Restore battery percentage on new Fitbit app

The new app version which I received yesterday (Thu, Sep 21, 2023) as an update no longer shows my battery percentage or profile picture to select it. Furthermore, the Charge 5 itself does not display the current battery percentage so how I am I supposed to know how much batter I have left (aside from connecting the charge cable).

How silly to be holding back on an update to reinstate the battery monitor.

... and how equally silly to have removed it in the first place.

Fitbit, you'd do well to listen to the many hundreds of your loyal customers complaining and just bring it back ASAP.

The longer you wait, the more of us will jump ship, and we definitely won't be buying Pixel Watches if this is how Google/Fitbit treat us.

BRING IT BACK.....

I used to be able to see the battery percentage every time I went into my app to sync it. My Fitbit has gone dead several times, and I have no warning until I am unable to use the watch face any more. I’m a nurse and need a watch at work. This app change is enough for me to look into buying a different device. I need a functional watch for my occupation. Being unable to see the battery life without having to seek it out is ridiculous. Most people have busy lives and having to remember one more thing to check to have this Fitbit/watch function is poor design. Your previous app was totally functional. This current update you’ve chosen aesthetics over functionality.

I have a Fitbit sense so I need the phone app to show the battery percentage because when it is charging I don’t have to keep going to the Fitbit to see what the percentage is

please restore the battery percentage on the app

it is necessary

Thank you

Well Fitbit/Google will not do that. I have been a Fitbit customer since the original pedometer (one) arrived in 2005/6 it's still works today recently gave it away.

I have had nothing but misery since things have gone to Google which I thought would be a good move. I have missing data. I chatted with someone from customer service on Friday and was asked such ridiculous questions, plus the new mobile app is horrid, I was approached about testing it, thank god I didn't as its awful.  What was the point of changing things when there wasn't a problem with the way it was.  Plus buying the sense 2 was the worst move I ever made as the assistant is Alexa, no Google assistant, but there's Google wallet, that doesn't work and maps really maps!! it doesn't connect to my phone to control music. Fitbit pay still doesn't work correctly and is not supported by most UK banks and google wallet is also not able to be used in the UK with some banks. Pointless. Plus changing my account from Fitbit to Google log in, I have lost all my friends so there's no competition and you can not revert back to the Fitbit log in. The pixel watch is just another Google iOS watch with Fitbit built in and a 24hr battery life is ridiculous. So with deep sadness, I have decided to leave now and go with Garmin, they have everything, I want and need to get the best out of my watch, with competitions and challenges too.

Fitbit I am so so so very disappointed that you do NOT listen to your customers and to be honest when Fitbit was small it had a heart, you were the bee's knees now you are just plodding along and not listening to the very people who buy your products.

Farewell.

I am registered ind and the new display tones are too hard too see. Please send me the research to show that you tested and researched the change for people with Visual or severe visual Impairments or did you not even consider the use by disabled users. Please answer as this is a serious equity question that should have been part of the equation when making decision on tones/background. No one likes the new display but that is not the issue I am referring too. Just singularly the tones and colur choice for the display. Thank you

This new version is hot garbage in general. But even if you're somehow a fan of everything being a monochromatic nightmare that's hard to find anything in because it all looks the same, literally no one wants to have to hunt for the battery level. That's an important piece of information, and beyond the fact that it should be right up front, taking the actually % away is pointlessly terrible. Full medium or low isn't actually that helpful, and I feel like the developers had to do extra work reprogramming it to give us less functionality and information. This new version needs to be 100% scrapped and forgotten. Whoever designed it should go back to school for a few years too.

Removing the Charge %age is unbelievable and unacceptable. These highly paid so called professionals appear to have no common sense. How on earth did this change get approved. It is diabolical. The members of this forum could do a much better job. Please read our messages fitbit developers and right your wrongs.

If it doesn’t change back, my next device won’t be a FitBit device. Was wanting a new charge 5/6 but will wait and see just what new device I’ll be purchasing.

I totally agree with you, and all those who have responded to my original post. We are all in agreement, and see the solution is a simple return of the battery % level indicator. It seems however, that we are the only ones who care, it’s all silence on the Fitbit developers side. Apparently we, the users of the Fitbit, just do not matter. That’s a very sad statement, one would think Fitbit would care.

If that is the case then my next device won’t be Fitbit but another brand.

Do the developers not use a Fitbit? Removal of the battery status in percentage was stupid! There is all this crap about readiness scores ( a bogus feature) yet they took away a critical bit of information. Bring it back, please.

Expressing disappointment and dissatisfaction with the Fitbit recent update. Really unpolished interface very clunky looking. Cannot access previous step count. Entirely inferior to previous versoon

It is ridiculous that this feature was removed in the first place. This needs to be reinstated asap.

Contacted them and they advise that they have no plans to bring back the percentage indicator at all. So for me, this means I’m done with Fitbit and looking for another brand.

Let's hope they change their minds! But if not, I am with you. I need a watch that does not keep black screening on me so that I know what time it is.

Totally agree. Also can't check that the watch is charging without disrupting the charging.

I can't really see how they thought removing the battery charge percentage from the app was a good idea. Have they not used their own product themselves?

I mean, sure the charge 5 itself shows the battery charge percentage when you scroll back. But I mostly want to know the charge level when I'm charging it on the table and lying on the couch myself. And currently the only way to do that is to physically go to where I'm charging the device.

I get they want me to be active, but this is not the way to do it.

Very stupid to remove the battery percentage indicator.

Well, today’s email from FitBit was the last nail in the coffin. By 2025, you must login using Google or your FitBit device will no longer work. My Charge 3 will kark by then, so I will be gone as a user. I tried using the VitalFit as a replacement but it is a no go. On recommendation from other frustrated users here, I will be trying Amzfit next. Apparently the new owners at Google see users as assets to be used, not as customers to be served. So be it. I am sure I am not the only one planning to bail out.

The new design looks like it was written by children for children.

Once 2025 is here I won’t be using Fitbit either. I’ll just use my Apple Watch. What a shame that they ruined the Fitbit product and app!

Seems to me, you don't.

People are screaming to have the Battery % returned but Fitbit are adamant that it won't, as reported by others here.

Is this a ploy to make us buy Google Pixel watches? How many people here would buy one now?

Going off the amount of comments and requests for the return of the battery
% on the app and still no joy

I am sure there will be absolutely loads of people moving away from Fitbit
in the very near future.!
