See Vitamin/Mineral data in Food log

Most of the food already have entries in the nutrition facts for vitamins and minerals, so why can't we drill down into this data? I would like to know if I am lacking in any particular vit/min, so I would know if I need a supplement.

I'm wondering if the nutrition information will be developed further ? Thing is at the moment info shown in the food log is very limited, however I've noticed when adding a new food there is lots of other info that can be added. Personally I need to track how much magnesium I get daily.

I live with osteoporosis and osteopenia so calcium information is very important to me. I would really like to be able to add this info to my custom foods!

It is disappointing to read that Fitbit is currently not planning to allow us to track vitamins and other micronutrients in food or other things that we consume. The current state of Fitbit and Food Tracking doesn't give us a holistic picture and tool for our health and fitness goals.

I stopped using Fitbit’s food tracking altogether. I just use MyFitnessPal
now and link the two so my food totals flow back to Fitbit. There’s a great
community over there, and you can track micronutrients.

I LOVE MyFitnessPal but I switched back over to a low carb diet and now I
use Atkins Food Tracker but when scanning foods, they don't have squat
saved in their system so I have to check MyFitnessPal all the time and then
custom enter most foods I eat into Atkins. but then it's in there I guess
but it sure is less convenient. I LOVE that I can create meals with a
picture on MyFitnessPal, it makes it fun. I love that I can copy yesterdays
meal or supplements right on over to the next day if I have the same thing
as the day before. I like that I can add my own categories. What I dint
like about MyFitnessPal is that when I enter a new food It only saves to
the category I used it in. I think it should be just saved to one general
food list that I can use in any category.

I WISH there was just ONE APP like FitBit or MyFitnessPal that would let
you switch from Low-Carb/Keto to Low Cal so it would display the proper
goals for MY needs. Mine being Protein, Fat & NET CARBS!!! not just
carbs. It should automatically calculate... Carbs-Protein-Sugar
Alcohols=Net Carbs. I wish that I could MELD FitBit, MyFitnessPal & Atkins
all together into one PURRRRFECT APP.

I totally agree with this suggestion. I used bodybugg for years (forerunner to fitbit) and was able to see at a glance how I was doing with my calcium intake, fiber, etc. for the day. As an aging female the calcium amd vitamin D intake specifically are very important to me. I have to use a separate app now to track these things and it is a pain to enter all my food into two separate apps.

It’s an easy fix. I feel as if they are being lazy about it.

I want to be able to track Vitamins and Minerals- especially Sodium! It's an additional way to be heart-health conscious. It is the primary reason I use another tracker for my food intake and I hate having to switch between the two. It's just too inconvenient.

Let us track the amount of vitamins and minerals compared to the daily recommended amounts we intake in a day like we can protein, carbs, and fat.

Hi @MadamQ, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here as it is not currently planned.

When adding custom food to the diary there’s very limited vitamins and nutrients you can add when you take daily vitamins and minerals. I know these don’t play a part in your calorie intact but they’re important to keep track of what you’re actually taking in terms of supplements. So I take a daily mega multivitamin and mineral which is packed full of vitamin A, B12, calcium, iron etc etc and unfortunately I’m only able to add potassium from this tablet. I also take a dietary fibre which is also important but it’s not easy to convert each 440mg tablet into the right metric amount. I think adding more options for vitamins/supplements etc and how they may impact your body is important to track. As a lot of people also do like myself, have protein shakes, meal replacements, juice plus capsules I think these also need to be taken into consideration for overall general health and well-being tracking as these are full of so many different nutrients that some people may not get from actual food.

I think in addition to this it would be great to have the ability to "save" the supplements you take daily so you just click one option instead of having to log each supplement separately.

Also good if for health reasons you are tracking for heart, diabetic, and other health conditions where one needs more specific percentages of the food intake. If you can already scan the bar codes information from the database should be available. There is an app called my fitness pal that does such. I see this suggestion has been out there for sometime.

I am anemic and need to track the amount of iron in my food so I can be sure I'm getting enough.  I was surprised to see that it is not tracked anywhere in the app.

PLEASE consider adding a vitamin and supplement tracker.  I feel this is vital in order to give us a fully informative breakdown. Surely with more and more people opting to become vegan, this would be a useful way of keeping tabs on essential nutrient update. It would be such an easy, yet much-welcomed addition to make.

When adding custom food there is a "simple view" option where you would simply enter food name, brand, serving size, calories, and calories from fat. There is an option to expand it to enter more nutritional info such as total fat, sodium, carbs, sugars, etc. Please add an option to expand it even further so that vitamin information can be entered.

Hi @Juelzz. Thanks for taking the time to explain why you would like to log vitamin info together with your good into the Fitbit app. This idea was already requested in the Feature Suggestions board, so I’ve moved your post here. While this isn't currently planned at this moment, we have left voting open so we can keep tracking this request over time.
