See Vitamin/Mineral data in Food log

Most of the food already have entries in the nutrition facts for vitamins and minerals, so why can't we drill down into this data? I would like to know if I am lacking in any particular vit/min, so I would know if I need a supplement.

@songbird1329I would reale prefer The nutriton To be mentioned in The Fitbitapp aswell. I mean why should you use two diffrent apps if it could all be in one single app ? Would be a **ahem** good Feature to ne included in The Fitbitapp. Btw. you can see The nutritonfacts in The webinterface of your fitbit so why shouldnt it be in The app ? Please integrate this feature in an update for The app 👍🏼

Yes! I had a Jawbone UP and the app gave a break down to your day's total fat, sodium, protein, carbs, sugar, etc. It is a very helpful feature when you are trying to eat healthier. Fitbit could do this and do it better.

This is unfair, I have posted this same thing, first and it got little attention. @FitbitCommunity, how is this possible, and how is it fair?

Your thread title was simply "new sensor" and you wrote mostly about sweating and mineral loss. This thread is more about exactly what the tile says "vitamin and nutrition tracker". Not quite the same but you did touch upon this is subsequent posts in your thread. As for how this is possible and how is it fair all I can offer is this isn't a competition. The more people who agree the better chance we all have of seeing these suggestions implemented.

Ok, I'll retitle it, you are correct. And isn't it a competition? I mean Fitbit is founded on that idea... And the number of votes it what you compete for. Thanks for taking the time to explain it to me

Problem is, everyone is different, and there is no one amount, also, if you don't want to add up when all you are eating and jaunt want the averages for calcium, not the Vitimans, but other things. There is premium membership, for less than a cup of coffee a month

Actually, you can track all micronutrients (vitamins) on Enquos and I switched to that. I still have my Fitbit though.

Is there a way to sync the food log from fitbit to enquos? I already log my food and water consumption on my fitbit and don't want to re-log that information.

I don't know. I just decided to start over on Enquos. It does sync my Fitbit activity in Enquos so I have activity and micronutrients all on the same app. You can also enter supplements.

Loyal Fitbit user for several years.  Always purchased the latest and greatest Fitbit.  Switched the Apple Watch and the results are kind of meh.

Here is what would bring me back to Fitbit.

  1. vitamin and mineral tracking on ap
  2. UV sensor with reminders for sunblock
  3. increased focus on weight lifting
  4. water-resistant

I would love to be able to export all of the nutrition facts such as vitamins and minerals, not just calories. A good model is the USDA Supertracker. I loved using their software, but their database is terribly lacking. Their nutrition exporting is very detailed and helpful.

Yes! I absolutely love this idea! I have a feeling this would be offered as a premium feature eventually, but it would be great to have it as a base option. To have a feature like this would really help people with special diets/lifestyles. Such as vegan/vegetarians, or if you are trying to lose weight but are also concerned if you are eating enough vitamins/nutrients.

I would like to track my daily vitamins and other dietary supplements by using my scanner.  I want a Daily goal section to show up on my dashboard would be nice.  Also a "Take Your Vitamins" reminder alarm would be nice too.  Maybe that would be nice for people on meds as well.  This is really nice idea for maternal vitamins while pregnant too.  I am sure if you had something for pregnant women. That would attract a new customer platform to add to the one you have already.

1. Dashboard goals and vitamin tracker for regular fitbit users.

2. Reminders for people who have to take DAILY MEDS.

3. Pregnant Women

4. I am sure you can make a Kids Fitbits too with kid style bracelets.

Detailed nutrient tracking would be especially helpful for pregnant women who need to increase their intake of many nutrients while staying within a certain number of calories. I tried a trial food report and it was helpful that it showed my calcium for the week but it didn't include folic acid - which is also important. And it's not as helpful to know after the fact as it would be during the day. I would pay for ongoing tracking over the day if it included calories, protein, calcium, vitamin C and folic acid. The more information the better. This would also help to focus on living a healthy lifestyle rather than simply losing weight.

Searching for a long time this feature is very Important but no application have this feature although it is very important to see what Vitamins you need and not only listed up which you consumed and that has no application which i found now. The Fibit App which tells u what u need and what is left. If Fibit would add this i will totally agree that it is the Fitness App No.1 but without it isn't

I find myself preferring to track food in fitbit as opposed to several other sites (myfitnesspal, spark people, fitday) because it can be done so quickly in a browser window.  The other sites vary in degrees of frustrating slowness.  However, I miss the charts available.  I understand that the Premium version of fitbit might get me the macronutrient pie chart though folks say it's only a weekly summary?  However, I also want to see how my iron intake is, etc.  Fit Day is free and less slow than some of the others and has this feature showing real time results of both macro nutrients and other nutritional measurements.  Please take a look and see if fitbit could add in this functionality.  Of course, I'd prefer it not be only for Premium accounts, but if I'm going to upgrade to Premium, then I'd hope it would have at least this level of features to rival a free site.  fitday.com

100% emphatically agree with all comments posted here.  I NEED a way to track vitamins/minerals as I am borderline anemic an need to ensure adequate iron intake, as well as things like calcium and folic acid for future pregnancy plans.  Would love to keep using Fitbit as my primary tracking app, but it is A TON of work to log everything I eat and without visibility into vitamins/minerals, this app quickly loses its appeal.

I click on Nutrition Facts on whatever food I just put it, and everything looks good, but there are 4 slots that I never put anything in for, because I can't. And it seems to bother me that I can't edit those. It'd be better if we could track all of those vitamins and minerals.

I have two suggestions listed below.   It appears I can add potassium, magnesium, and calcium content to custom foods.  But I can't display daily totals for these nutrients.  These are critical minerals -- at least as critical as sodium, which IS highlighted in daily totals.   For example, it's the potassium sodium balance that has to be maintained, not just absolute levels of sodium ingested.  And tracking magnesium and calcium is important for bone health, which is particularly critical for women using your trackers.

First suggestion:  Either provide daily totals of these minerals in your standard report, or allow the user to select whether include these minerals (or other nutrients for that matter) in the report displayed.

Second suggestion:  Don't simply calculate the percentage of the RDA consumed if the RDA is different for men and for women.  Either customize the RDA to the gender selected by the user, or use milligrams.

Also entering medications we are taking that may lower certain nutrients

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this suggestion. In terms of an update, there aren't currently any plans to release this feature. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us and we will let you know if anything changes.

The food log should have a way to track things other than just fat, protein and fiber. For health reasons, people want to know their potassium, magnesium and sugar intake as well as many others. We should be able to customize the nutrients we want to track or even have all the vitamins and minerals available for tracking if we so choose. This would help in food choices and meal planning and would be invaluable to those trying to get all the nutrients they need for the day through their food.

Yes!! You can log the vitamins in food tracker and then it nicely adds up calories per day and carbs and protein and fat (with a nice chart) but not vitamins 😞 I just want a daily total. Is there a way perhaps to export the food tracker to excel with vitamin data? To get it that way?

Kiikat
Jogger

Yes yes! Since the vitamin and micronutrient data is already filed under each food items in the log, why not enable a way to easily track them?

Please! This would be amazing. THe macronutrients are already tracked and displayed; this is great. We're only just part of the way there.

would be amazing if you could see the vitamins and minerals you have consumed. Then you could work on getting the ones your lacking back to a healthy level.

Come of Fitbit we've been requesting this for a long time. Surely someone can create the query in the database and have it displayed on the app.
