Show Active Calories, Resting Calories, and Total calories burned

Apple and Garmin both show how many calories you burned being active, and how many calories you burned just from breathing for the day. This feature is important, as the biggest thing a lot of people focus on, like myself, is active calories alone.

Thanks a million for sharing this feature @Lorenkwatson. You knocked me off my feet! Let’s see what others think.

Yes! I completely agree.

I think Fitbit is really ahead of the game in comparison to Apple and Garmen as far as the app interface and tracking capabilities. But this is the one area I’ve found where I think that it is severely lacking.

I really agree that this tracking feature should be added to all Fitbit trackers.

We are only shown a tota of the bmi calories, showing active calories as a total on watch face would be ideal. Having to go bck and calculate it myself is abit difficult and i like to know my active calories more than my BMI. Im sure others could agree with me on this one.

Hi @Szee, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here to maintain this board organized.

Please bring this feature to Fitbit. I’m seriously considering switching to Garmin or the Apple Watch because they show active calories burned and can use this as a primary goal. I enjoy walking but also like biking and swimming, and it’s frustrating not having a goal that all of these activities can contribute to.

Yes, please! Also seriously considering switching from Versa2 to apple watch because of this.

Yes please! Only thing missing from the Fitbit trackers in my eyes. Recently purchased the versa 2 and was disappointed to find out this device doesn’t include this feature. Going from a charge 2 to a versa 2 I thought this feature would have been integrated by now! Gutted is an understatement

Just as many have written, to find out that FitBit, which seems to be the leading app when it comes to these kind of watches and gadgets, does NOT separate active calories is quite the bummer and actually making me consider changing to a Garmin. It feels like a super easy thing to implement yet even after a year (or even more, as I've found older comments) of people asking for it yet nothing has happened. Very odd! I hope it'll come soon!

I would like to have the option to view my active calories burned VS the non active and total calories burned.

Hi @Rlbod96, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about having an option to see your active calories burned vs non active, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here to keep this board organized.

Right now its super hard to set an exercise goal because that only incudes active calories. If i have 600 calories left to burn, how do i know what i need to actively burn and what will be added automaticly as resting calories?

Hello There - It would be very useful if you could display 'Active Calories' in the watch face along with Total calories burned for the day.

Hi @praveenmadhavan, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see Active Calories on the Fitbit devices. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

I completely agree with all of the above.  It would be beneficial to see a breakdown of active vs resting calorie burn the in Fitbit App or on the watch.

Definitely more interested in calories burned from my actions rather then calories burned just from living. 😂  Would be great to see some feature parity from fitbit compared to other devices out in the wild.

We actually have to fight for this feature in 2021? This is ridiculous. Give us the active calories feature already before I toss this junk in the trash and go to any other health app.

Sincerely,

I totally agree.  Fitbit should have active calories burned for whole day. I don't want to see non active calorie burns. I don't understand if apple has this feature on their watch why fitbit can't move with time. It would be fabulous to have this additional feature.

Fitbit used to do this when Premium was web based.  Fitbit needs to bring it back and provide the information to ALL users, especially when you major competitors do.

Here we are at the end of 2022 and the active calories still isnt a feature even after so many requests. Seems a huge thing to not include when so many other fitness watches do. I genuinely dont understand why this has not been made a feature yet i just dont understand it

Very discouraging that this topic has been posted on multiple threads going back to 2019, if not sooner.

How is it that in 2023 this feature is still not available? Fitbit needs to understand that they’re loosing customers by not allowing users the option of choosing if they’d like to track active or resting calories. Most users who will ultimately turn to Apple Watches. The reality is that many users want to use third party apps to share fitness information and by not allowing this, after years of requests and multiple messages posted in the forum, just indicates that Fitbit is not being customer centered. How many votes or posted messages are needed?! This is a joke and complete waste of what could be a better product.

I'm also really concerned how this hasn't been added into the product yet, it clearly exists on other smart watches in the market and has been for a while. Fitbit PULL YOUR STUFF TOGETHER!!

I bought this for the main goal of fitness and weight loss. I'm likely going to return and buy a Garmin as the calorie estimations or grossly over estimated and unrealistic to use. Such a bummer because I love the other features of the watch.
