Show exercise duration in HH:MM:SS on Fitbit app

Logged a run from the Charge 6, Web dashboard shows Duration as 25:15. App shows the duration as 25! On the previous app, I was able to see the run duration in hours, minutes and seconds. Having the seconds missing makes the app view of the data much less useful - bring back the seconds please.

I gave in and just exported all of my data to Strava. Not sure why I hadn’t been doing this previously. You see all of the expected analytics: mile splits, heart rate, GPS, elevation, etc. I found these instructions useful https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216918087-Fitbit-and-Strava even if you can only upload 15 files, it’s good enough.

Bring this feature back! Can't wrap my head around why is was ever removed, i dont want my runs rounded to the nearest minute. @LizzyFitbit what is the update on this feedback?

SlowAF

@LizzyFitbit any update on this issue?

I would love to be able to use my fitbit on runs again, but I don't see the point in wearing it if it can't give me an accurate time for my runs. (Tracking progress on my run times is the number one reason I use a fitbit at all.)

This has now been addressed for me and I can see seconds for all my activities when I go intonthe details.

I am not sure on how the update is being rolled out across regions, but if you are in the UK, you should now have this.

I can't take fitbit seriously anymore.

The app and the web show different data, its not consistent and the relevance for fitness is disappearing into the rear view mirror.

I think it should be classified more in the health rather than fitness arena... which is a shame, because the metrics are there, they are just not consistently accessible on the watch / app / web. I appreciate that the watch screen is limited, and so have no real issues there.... but the app and the web discrepancies are crazy.

For example, my wife has an inspire2, and she can see a heart rate graph on the app.... however I have an inspire 3 (more advanced you may think) but yet the app doesn't show the graph BUT the web does........ crazy.

Does anyone who develops this stuff actually use the device?

Hey Everyone,

My app updated last week (I am in NZ) and is now showing the correct duration for running and walking activities. I am on version 4.15 (11048703) on android so this looks like they are starting to get this fixed.

The new app doesn’t show seconds for run times - seconds are incredibly important. E.g 50.01 and 50.59 both show as 50 but there’s a big difference.

I also liked being able to see high and low pace data on the run map - now gone.

With the last update the running time has started rounding to the minute. Obviously whoever made this change has never been a runner tracking their progress.

There is no way to see if you are improving in your workouts since Fitbit refuses to address seconds not being included in your workout summary in the app. There have been numerous threads and after reading through the "under consideration" items, Fitbit does not have this listed. We just get moderators saying, "thanks, we'll consider that!".

It's so depressing. I didn't think it could get any worse, even, possibly better with the news of the android app getting fixed. But I go for a run on a route I've done periodically for years....and not only is the milage wrong.. it records the thing as a RUN and a WALK at the same time. However, one rounds up, (run - 28 mins), and one rounds down, (walk 27 mins). The time I captured as a screen grab. It was 27mins 20 seconds. I figured I'll go to the Fitbit dashboard to see the seconds as it still records there...and even worse! It doesn't even record that correctly! It's shown as 28 mins and 9 seconds! So, there we have it - the Fitbit that USED to work until the new 'app' - now records the same run incorrectly 4 times! (on time and distance). It's laughable. Support - when raised cannot give me any ETA for this fix.....same exercise shown twice.jpgscreen at time of run end - grab.jpgshown as run.jpgshown as walk.jpegShown on dashboard and different time again.jpeg

Please return h.mm.ss format for timed runs to the fit bit app. It is useless to me otherwise.

I noticed this product feedback was already requested on this board, so I’ve moved your post here. Please support this product feedback by adding your vote, this helps our developers to keep tracking its popularity and demand over time.

In regards to your other question, after logging your exercise, select the pace below the map. Then on the map to zoom in and at the end of every lap tap on the white dot to receive more information about the pace. Keep adding your suggestions!

How and why is this still an issue? PLEASE return to HH:MM:SS format, not only for runs, but all exercises!

I agree.

My Fitbit Sense 2 records my running duration in exact time (hours:minutes:seconds).

My Fitbit Sense 2 dashboard app shows my running duration rounded up or down to nearest minute (hours:minutes).

The on-line computer browser view previously showed my running duration in exact time (hours:minutes:seconds).

Why do I not get the exact duration of my runs on the app???? It's incredible that Fitbit can not or will not fix this issue!

Given up after 11 years of using a Fitbit daily through so many versions. All rendered pointless after the app upgrade. Bought a new smart device of the supplier G - work the rest out. It’s like stepping back into a world where fitness and data stats matter!!sad day, and I hung on for, now, 9 months. Still no fix for the most basics features - like seconds recorded on an activity FFS! - which DID exist beforehand. Farewell to Fitbit and a black mark against Google from me.

It beggars belief that a fitness App would truncate run time to minutes! Only someone who knows absolutely nothing about being a runner would implement such an absurdity. I raised this months ago with user support to no avail. Until a few days ago (specifically 07 July 2024) the full resolution time including seconds was available by logging in to the web browser dashboard. But that has now been discontinued. Now I'm shopping for a non-fitbit tracker!

Even worse problem now - used to be able to get exercise duration on H:M:S at least online in a browser, but this has been taken down, so can only use app which for some idiotic reason truncates exercise duration to minutes. Fitbit seems to have program to make their devices ever-less funtional.  By including seconds, Luxe could be made into a sports watch with infinite memory. Without it becomes a piece of junk in the drawer to me and I'll go back to wearing my sports watch. Will post online about this issue to warn all serious athletes away from Fitbit. Crazy that complaints out there about this for over a year, and Fitbit has yet to fix even though it would cost them nothing but a few coding keystrokes.

I think I'm going to get a Garmin too...

As a formerly happy Fitbit Sense owner (happy until the recent changes)...has anyone got a suggestion for which Garmin Watch to get? (there seem to be a lot of options!)

wvicens

What could be the logic/explanation for why the app only shows minutes and not minutes and seconds ?  Since the data is accurately recorded by the watch, it couldn't be that difficult to transfer it accurately with all the other data to the app.

GBishop4

At the end of this month, I will be moving to a Garmin.  It was a painful decision, and I am not confident that I will be able to move all of my historical data there, but when Google shut down the online dashboard and did not place the full functionality of the dashboard on the app, they finally lost me.  I was making due with the hh:mm:ss issue by opening my runs in Strava -- which I recommend to anyone who is maintaining a FitBit relationship.  But in the end, I feel as though the tech giant who bought the smart watch is purposely degrading the user experience either because they just don't need us or because they are hoping to move us all to some Google watch.  That may happen with a large segment of users that use FitBit as a smartwatch and not necessarily a fitness tracker.  But it is and was always meant to be a fitness tracker.  Instead of making that tracker better, they are making it worse.  And now it's time to invest in a technology that cares about its customer base.  I'll see you all over at Garmin.  Thanks for the many years of happiness in fitness, FitBit.  I relied on you and you really changed my life.  It is sad to leave you on these terms. Farewell.
