Show exercise duration in HH:MM:SS on Fitbit app

Logged a run from the Charge 6, Web dashboard shows Duration as 25:15. App shows the duration as 25! On the previous app, I was able to see the run duration in hours, minutes and seconds. Having the seconds missing makes the app view of the data much less useful - bring back the seconds please.

@LizzyFitbit I don't understand why we need to vote for this? It's a fitness tracker and on a very basic level it should track distance and time. It only tracks minutes now and no seconds, so it's not fit for purpose. We are not asking for milliseconds. Seconds. Whether I track running, cycling, swimming, walking, mindfulness, yoga, seconds are needed. It matters if i meditate 3 minutes or 3 minutes and 50 seconds. Second matters a lot. I have not heard about a fitness tracker or a sports watch that does not do that. I would not buy such a tracker, and many would not. What is the issue with showing us seconds in the app? The watch itself tracks seconds because they are shown on the web browser dashboard. It's the issue with the app. It is an issue not an extra feature. Seconds were shown pre 4.x version, not anymore.

I'm glad it's not just me that thinks this is insane. It didn't used to be like this. I am nearing the point where I am due for a new fitness tracker. Without the ability to track seconds, there is absolutely no way it will be a Fitbit.

To be honest it feels like the fitbit app is in a bit of a managed decline.

The fact this obvious bug has to be voted for to be fixed just smacks of a dysfunctional system run by product managers with no empathy for the product or it's users.

When my current fitbit dies (they generally last only 1-2 years anyway), I'll definitely be migrating away (I've been looking up Garmins...we shall see)

I find it hard to believe thay this issue hasn't been fixed by Fitbit yet. I'm utterly stunned and disappointed. Like many of us, I'm a competitive person and when I run a race I want to know if I have improved by 10,15 or even 50 seconds. This malfunction defeats the whole purpose of tracking the exercise in the app.

I'm also not happy that is doesn't track rowing exercise and doesn't even show that my heart rate is changing during that strenuous exercise. But I guess that's a separate issue.

If nothing is improving here I'm sure Fitbit will lose a lot of loyal customers..

I made the mistake of buying a Sense 2 on black Fri to replace my aging Versa 1.  The app has only gotten worse since then and the lack of seeing basic data like seconds is mind boggling.  I'm run training and need those seconds. On top of this I've discovered the data sync between fitbit and strava also is now wrong even when I do a manual import and export. Beyond disappointed because strava sync was my backup.  Might as well switch brands and take a loss.

The minutes and seconds for sure matter to most who have fitness trackers. I also know this is not a difficult technical change to make as the minutes and seconds exist in the data as it does show on the web page. If this is meant to force me to the web page I guess it is working but I can’t imagine why Fitbit would think that is worth annoying their most loyal users of their product. Come on Fitbit, just add the seconds back to the app already.

To Vee- Thank you for posting the "Fitbit 6 doesn't display exercise seconds" workaround on ‎Feb 01 14:45.

6 taps for what used to be 1 tap but still better than going all the way to the Website dashboard.

Nor sure if it’s just me - but this route doesn’t work now. It just loops back to the new screen now. 😱😔 they can ‘fix’ that bug but not the real issue. That’s just insulting us 😡

Yes, they "fixed" that way of seeing the old view, but haven't fixed the time format on the exercise duration.

Completely dysfunctional product management.

grtruck

Nope: they haven’t fixed it - they’ve now closed that route off now. You can only get to the seconds by going to the website now. And you can’t change the category of the exercise. So even though I choose run when I start it classifys it as a walk and I can’t change it. I’m beginning to think they are doing this on purpose it’s so bad now.

Just adding support to what’s been said here too - very disappointed I can’t see the seconds for my runs. I’m a first time Fitbit user and pretty disappointed about this, especially as it doesn’t seem to be able to track my swims very accurately either…

I can’t believe they shut off that route. Why would they do that?!! I want to see what I was seeing! This is a giant leap backwards and totally a dealbreaker. I’d really like someone from Fitbit to answer why they would take that away,  and when we find a workaround then they take that away too!

First of all, I completely agree that Minutes:Seconds should be displayed IN THE FITBIT APP for activities just as it was until Fitbit App version 4 was released.

Regarding the "Fitbit 6 doesn't display exercise seconds" workaround posted by Vee, this is the information I have (for the fitbit app running on apple devices).

On my iPhone running Fitbit App v 4.08 the workaround does display Minutes:Seconds on a different screen accessed from the "REVIEW YOUR DATA" selection.

On my iPad running Fitbit App v 4.10 the workaround just calls up the same Minutes: NO SECONDS display accessed from the Exercise days control on the Today screen.

Apparently instead of restoring the Activity time seconds Fitbit is trying to eliminate seconds.

I wish I could run for over 1 hour to see what is displayed.

There was a “hack” where you could get the old view with seconds if you went to “manage data.”  I do not see that any more.   Not good, I can’t use this watch if I don’t have seconds accounted for.

I agree with everyone. This is a must. Also having information of lap times within the app would be helpful, rather than on the watch just after finishing and disappearing. I swear this used to be a feature. The rounding is just absurd and who ever thought it was a good idea clearly doesn’t know the importance of a minute. I’ve also heard they are rounding incorrectly - ie rounding anything less than 50 second down like a 100 scale???

hermand555
First Steps

@stu9090 no I don't think they are even rounding...I found a run in the Web UI that was 34:57, and in the app it says 34 minutes.

That's a really big flaw to me, not happy with that at all. I am not able to comprehend who and why would come up with that idea.

I don’t think any of us can comprehend it, it’s completely ridiculous!

Agree with all the posts before me. How did anyone at Fitbit think this was an improvement? A fitness tracker that does not show exact timings is not doings its job. And why this takes months to fix is a complete puzzle; I can only conclude Fitbit has a total disregard for its userbase. Definitely moving away from Fitbit.

@LizzyFitbit if you can not confirm when this will be fixed please can I get a refund on my FitBit.

It no longer does the functions advertised when I bought it (e.g. accurate tracking of exercise) so not fit for purpose

@LizzyFitbit ditto @JWGH, refunds are called for.

I have a friend that also uses fit bit app for IOS and can see the seconds on his exercises. When will this be available for the android app?

grtruck

49ermonk - your friend is incorrect- you still can’t see seconds on the iOS app. No idea when this most basic feature will ever return. Google is deaf to any feedback.

This essentially renders the app useless. I’m now having to copy my run time to a text file before I close the run session. It’s literally what people buy one of these for. It’s my first Fitbit and it’s going to be my last. Let’s not get into the flaky gps that works about 10% of the time.

Hey all I got tired of app issues, removal of features, sync and distance issues with Fitbit and the terrible support. I got a brand new fitbit sense 2 at the end of November because I've been using Fitbit since 2015 and I thought things would turn around. What a mistake and my new watch tracks worse and less consistently than my fitbit Gen 1 versa.  My new apple watch arrives in a few days. Looking forward to ditching this platform for good. It was a good run, pun intended, but this race was over as soon as Google bought out Fitbit. I just can't believe I fell for it thinking things would turn around.
