SmartTrack - Rowing

It would be great if SmartTrack could recognise the motion of rowing - ergo, sculling or sweep oar.  As indicated by one of the moderators these are not 'steps' but there is a defined motion and I would imagine that this could be differentiated.  Once recognised, the rowing rate could be shown / logged alongside the heart rate.
Maybe a bit specialist for Fitbit's user base, but if the GPS was to be used in conjunction with SmartTrack, a rolling 500m split time alongside the rowing rate could be displayed and logged when on the water, which if accurate I'm sure rowing users would pay extra for.

I have recently moved to an Ionic and cannot believe Rowing is not listed. My last wearable a Microsoft Band 2 had this feature over 2 years ago. Is Fitbit just producing an Apple look alike with no cajones ?

Please add! Outdoor rowers can benefit from it enormously because of built it HR and GPS.

I just can't believe there is Martial Arts and no Rowing and Paddling (kayaks and canoes)

I love my FitBit Charge 2, but I would love it even more if I could get my rowing workouts captured and analyzed.

I learnt something from another rower recently and they said download an app called erg data which can be linked to a concept 24 account which then can be linked to your fitbit account. Your active minutes then should come u as rowing. I haven’t tried it yet. This is something for now. I’m sure fitbit are trying to develop something. I hope so!

Stationary Rowing machines are being incorporated into workouts more and more. Please add this activity. Yes, I'm aware of other apps and/or wearable that may do this, but isn't the whole idea to have it all in one convenient, non complicated wearable and app? If I have to manually record my activities when I get home from the gym into the app or fitbit page, then why do I need my fitbit? The old fashion way of carrying a note pad is gone ladies & gents. I'm having the same problem with HIIT workouts. Adding an app compatibility bridge between fitbit and another app such as Johnson & Johnson 7 minute workout should solve this. HIIT is very, very popular in most everyone's workouts! Thanks

Please add rowing.  I'm just getting into kayaking and it's a bummer not being able to track that activity.

What's the current status on this?

PSA: Since you're showing rowing as an exercise in your ads, it's false/misleading advertising, which can have legal actions in  many countries.

Together with running, rowing is my almost-daily exercise. I find it really annoying to be able to track one but not the other.

Please, add rowing. Please!

It would be great to use my Fitbit to track rowing on a rowing machine. Auto detecting the motion and auto logging the activity. I already see a handful of requests. Seems like it would be useful to many people.

Disappointed that rowing isn’t a stock activity on my new Blaze. It’s my opening exercise during every visit to the gym. Please add Fitbit!

Hi @SrdhuskerThank you for sharing your Feature Suggestion with the Fitbit Community. Currently the Fitbit app will show Rowing and Rowing Machine when manually logging your activity in the Fitbit app. If this isn't what you're looking for, please reply back with more detail about your idea or  or what you mean by adding a fitness category. I look forward to your response.

It'd be fantastic if the sports trackers natively supported outdoors/indoors rowing activities and provided some pertaining live data as Stroke Rate (SPM), Pace (time/500m), Course (1-360°) and such.

The basic requirements for this feature seem to have been already met by most of your devices
- Accelerometer
- GPS
- Team of supporting developers

The Fitbit needs to auto detect rowing. You are marketing these watches to be fitness oriented. My SIX YEAR OLD Samsung Galaxy S2 smart watch will auto detect a rowing machine. Why can't your brand new flagship watch?
