Support DD/MM date format on Charge 5

The new Charge 5 only has an American date format when set to an English speaking country, despite having an English date format for many non-English speaking countries. Please change the date format for the UK to DD/MM.

As a temp workaround..................and this clearly isn't the answer, I changed my clockface to Cutout.

INTERNATIONAL DATE FORMAT IS BEING CRIED OUT FOR ACROSS THE GLOBE. You
either don't see/recognise it or don't want to see it!

It's all there in black and white.

DD/MM is an essential option in the UK. I’m regretting buying a charge 5. If this is not fixed soon, this will be my last Fitbit

They really do not seem in the least bit bothered that so many of us are saying this will be our last Fitbit - absolutely shocking customer service and support!

Just updated my Charge 5 to firmware 171.50. Wow! I can find my phone now, (not lost it yet), but I still can’t display the date correctly 🙄 and don’t get me started on the teenage watch faces…

Just got a Charge 5.

Upvote for DD/MM format (11/08) for 11 August PDQ please, or even MMM DD (Aug 11), DD MMM (11 Aug) would do.

I'm 99% sure I saw screenshot in DD/MM format before purchase, it closed the decision to buy.

Or regrettably this is going back.

You'd best send it back then.
There are plenty of photographs and screenshots of DDMM but they're all
fake - similar to Fitbit support. Many here class it as false advertising.

The screenshots could have been taken from a different language. If I set my region to a Spanish, Italian or French speaking country, it then shows DD/MM. English is locked to MM/DD, whatever country you pick. Or you can pick a different face. Lots show the month either with letters or in the correct format.

Thanks for both the above replies. May well send it back!

Got a few days to decide yet.

I came to these forums to find a fix for the date format, thinking I might have missed a setting. What I found, is that Fitbit has been ignoring the rest of world outside their American bubble FOR YEARS. Wow.

The date issue is annoying. The haughty disregard for your customers' legitimate concerns is unforgivable, as is continuing to sell your merchandise in deceitful packaging.

Fair points, business is business, you pays your money ....

If you dig into the alternative faces, I found Progressive does for me (it’s the only one, but one os enough).

Overall I find the faces much too busy and complex, it needs a couple of simple and instantly readable ones that conform to DMMT. (Don’t Make Me Think - see the book).

How eloquently and succinctly put!

I completely agree with you as well as those who think Fitbit are an ignorant bunch of ****wits who don’t give a s*** about the world that exists outside of America!

I am not anti - American, I happen to love the country, but I have become increasingly frustrated as time goes by the seemingly apparent “burying of heads in sand” attitude from Fitbit on this matter.

I am simply astounded. Almost against my better judgement I bought the Fitbit Charge 5, as I strongly object to the way some of the stuff does not work unless you pay for Premium, but I quite liked my old Fitbit and the colour screen attracted me like a stupid jackdaw.

In the advertising and on the box that I now have in front of me it shows a UK not a US date format.  This is NOT a trivial issue. To find that there is no way of changing the default screen from US format is freaking me out. I am considering sending my unit back. In fact, reading the previous 8 pages it almost seems like the only way to get Fitbit to pay attention to this issue is to return the item to Amazon explaining why.

This is extremely poor from Fitbit. You charge a premium price. Provide decent support.

This is why many of us will never, ever buy from Fitbit again.

You can return it and quibble as much as you want, they simply don't care.

(Neither it seems do their parent company Google).

Cpmpletely agree with this. Should be available in UK format.

This thread is 11 months old. Fitbit don’t care…

They have a “like it or lump it” attitude.

Got an email from Fitbit this morning, advertising three new devices that they're releasing, and all I can think of is this problem.

They don't care about non-US English-speaking audiences. Why would I care about their new devices?

Rover999

I thought exactly the same - if they don’t care about us……! Deleted without even looking at the new devices.

Only america uses the silly MM/DD format for the default clock face on the Fitbit charge 5. Most countries use DD/MM, so this should be an easy setting to change. Apparently this cannot be done on the default clock, and the only solution is to get a different clock. Why not just release a "rest of world" version for most of the world's population?
Username11111

I'm not a yank so I also put my support towards the normal DD/MM format. Why do americans have to be so awkward about everything? Please fix for the majority of the world's population as this is clearly false advertising and should be an obvious feature.

Hi @Username11111, thanks for taking the time to share this suggestion about supporting DD/MM date format on Charge 5. I've moved it into a similar request. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs. Click on the thumbs-up to show your support.

Thank you again for your participation in the Feature Suggestions Forums.

It is not a ‘suggestion’. It is a fix to a major issue for all non-Americans (approx 98% of the world’s population).
Pommie

It's quite incredible that this is not top of the pile.

It negatively impacts the user experience for a massive number of users and must be the simplest of fixes.

Why don't Fitbit care about this?

I am forced to use a watch face I dislike in order not to have to "translate" every time I see the date.

Won't get fooled again!
