Support DD/MM date format on Charge 5

The new Charge 5 only has an American date format when set to an English speaking country, despite having an English date format for many non-English speaking countries. Please change the date format for the UK to DD/MM.

How on Earth is standard internationisation a "feature"?

Fitbit have not intention of supporting this, why can't you be honest?

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!
You are still hiding behind it being a “Feature Update” instead of a design error that has led to misleading and incorrect advertising and marketing! As a previous commentator mentioned…..we can vote with our feet and “won’t get fooled again”!

Using an American date format for all English speakers is an example of Ethnocentric Design.

Please make it so that there is an option for day/month. Why would you not do this? Would you be happy if you were only able to read seconds/mins/hours and not able to have it visible as you are accustomed to reading?

Good luck getting an answer.

I  have wound up purchasing a Garmin Venu SQ2.

FWIW it wasn't the date format issue in the end, it was the inaccuracy of the GPS and shorter battery life.  I regularly do a 7.1km circuit (walking) and the Charge 5 kept telling me it was anywhere from 7.4 to 8.6km.

Then I did the 7 Bridges Walk in Sydney a couple of weeks ago, starting with 80% charge and it gave up after 12km of the 28km course.

If I read the (American) date correctly this issue has been going to be reviewed now for 14 months. fitbit has had plenty of time to do a software upgrade; I guess they just don't want to.

The Rest of the World pretty much uses DD/MM/YY and MMM-DD is used on many other clack faces so I'm mystified to know why such a minor change is challenging to fitbit.

Come on, we like Continuum, just not the US-centric date format.

Excellently said!

Providing DD/MM and other formats such as dd-mmm-yyyy are just one or two lines of code. It is a disgrace that this is not available.

Come on Fitbit, how hard can this be. Thie will probably be the last fitbit I buy.

They've absolutely NO interest in fixing this.

I'm going Garmin next - these clowns don't deserve my custom.

I've stumbled across this thread as I was wondering how to fix it. This is my 3rd fitbit. I won't be buying another one if this isn't fixed.

It won't be fixed.

Interestingly Amazon Black Friday as is using the same fake picture showing
the date in UK format.

How odd.

Please make date format independent from location and language. I'm Dutch and in the Netherlands. I prefer US English on my machines. Adding UK English as a language choice to change the date format to DD/MM would therefore not be any help to me.

Sure, set sensible defaults based on my choice of language, but give me the option to change it

Thanks, Marjan

We are not speaking about language but date format.

DD/MM/YY or DD/MM/YYYY is normal in NL as it is in UK but Fitbit has only MM/DD which is unknown outside of USA.

Errrm yes, I know it was about date format thank you. I was just thanking the other poster.

EDIT: Today is December 5 (that's 5th December elsewhere) and a mod has deleted my earlier post because I posted in Dutch.

...and we have just now had a firmware update which has not changed
anything. I fail to understand how they can show an appropriate date format
on the screens of Fitbit 5 advertising pictures but not be able to action
this on non US fitbits.

Does this apply to any other fitbit products? My charge 2 and charge 4
never had this problem.

As they see this as a “feature” and not a basic necessity, they’ll likely add this feature to the Charge 6…

When we’ve all bought a Garmin 🙄.

I've started using Fitbit Charge 5 today and I am actually considering to return it just because of that.

Heyo! I am living in Europe, it's a digital smart tracker with time and date feature with USA date format only, seriously?

It is digital! I am 100% sure you can fix it easily with an update..

I'll give it a week or else it's going back. You can ship it back to US and try selling it there.

Can't believe this has been raised to Fitbit so long ago (it's even been a topic of discussion on previous Fitbit versions) and for a company as big as Fitbit to be unwilling to implement the date format most of the world has grown with is ridiculous.

Get your act together. There are countries outside the US you know?

this is insane!?

Fitbit, please add the DD/MM format as an option!

It has not escaped me that the date format used in the community header is the US one.
There really is no hope.

Hello everybody - seems this issue has sadly still not been resolved. Perhaps it has not been elevated to the correct people and instead left to low-level supervisors / moderators who in big companies, as most know, sadly have little/no power or responsibiliy. Not their fault as this is big business, and they are merely small low paid cogs in the much larger scope of the big business corporate factory.

I'm confident that one of these fine Fitbit developers will be able to shred some light on this - Gordon, Loanbsu, John and/or Siddhi? Please work your magic!

FITBIT. Why aren't they listening on an essential request?

Please have date format able to change not for those living in UK, but Australia and many other countries!

Disappointed to have updated from a Charge 3 to a Charge 5 and be subjected to a date format that does not apply to me.  I'm shocked to see this issue being highlighted in here for months and obviously ignored. Seems Fitbit is happy to exclude the majority of its users.  I'm already looking at alternatives.
