Support Google Workspace accounts to log in to Fitbit account

Right now people like myself that use a Google Workspace (so not something [at] gmail.com) account as their main account, are locked out of Fitbit "login with Google" features - and our accounts can't be migrated.

This totally took the wind out of my sails with my new Pixel Watch 2 purchase. 😞

My whole life is based around my Workspace account. Has been for years. Everything else integrates fine. Please fix!

Just had to create a fake google account for exactly this issue. Considered sending the device back and still might. It is a bizarre decision to not allow google workspace admins to turn on fitbit. The fake google account makes the whole thing very inconvenient for no benefit to google or me.

Returned the Pixel Watch 2 today due to this incompatibility with Google Workspace accounts. Bought an Amazfit Balance instead.

And one more.

We pay for Workspace accounts; we should get at least the same functionality. Or do they want us to move our hosted domains to Microsoft?

What a horrible experience for my new Pixel Watch 2. I can't even use Fitbit with my Google Workspace account and can't migrate data either 😕  Guess I'll go with a competitor...

When considering an upgrade to my Pixel watch - this will definitely be a deciding factor. My Workspace account is for me to run my personal Domain and have control of how I use my account, not allowing me to use with Fitbit will mean I stop using entirely

Hello,

I would like to see this supported as well. If it cant be, at least provide a way for migrating data from our current accounts to a compatible google account. I am a long time Fitbit user and my history is important to me.

Thanks.

Perhaps if Google is actually afraid of losing money they'll get their act together.

Here's a link on how to migrate a Google workspace account to Microsoft.

Has Google explained why workspace accounts cannot be used to log into Fitbit. There must be a reason, if we understood that we may be more sympathetic.  As it is, it looks as though they simply don't care about the people who pay for upgraded services as much as they care for those to whom they give them away.  I wonder if as a paid for service we do not agree to give away data that we do agree to give away as a free service user?  If that is the case, let's understand that and we can make an informed decision - and in those circumstances I would recommend that Google gives workspace users the option to share their data...

It's probably something about personal health data being under a Workspace account which means technically it could be accessed by a Workspace Admin.  (ranks up there with "won't anyone think of the children?", but that's another annoying problem I'm dealing with that children can't use normal Pixel/fitbit watches)

That said, some simple warnings/disclaimers should be enough, as I've seen similar dialog boxes from other products while using my personal Workspace account.  And combine that with a Workspace Admin Console switch to allow Admins to turn it on/off for all/subset of accounts gives out control to where Admins expect it.

This isn't exactly novel, nor difficult.

I don't believe the issue has anything to do with whether a workspace admin, or any other workspace user, could/would have access to the fitbit user's data.  In my opinion, it's because GOOGLE wouldn't have access to the fitbit user's data for marketing, targeted ads and sale of the data.  This is because the "workspace" data is owned by the workspace's organization and NOT Google, in contrast to a "personal" Google account that allows Google to do whatever with the data.

At bottom, my guess is that because Google can't monetize the data associated with a workspace account, they're in no hurry to accommodate workspace users.  Just my personal opinion, FWIW.

Just adding my voice to everyone else's... It seems such an ill-informed choice to block workspace users from fitbit. I have had the same G suite account for decades, and use the account for everything. The only reason I want to swap my fitbit account to a Google account would be to unlock Google pay/wallet. I'm not setting up a separate Google pay account just to use it on fitbit!!!

It also _really_ frustrates me that fitbit mods keep commenting on these forum queries with responses that do not recognise the genuine concerns and frustrations of workspace users, and fail to give explanations _why_ this decision has been made to our detriment. A separate Google account, purely for one piece of software, is NOT good practice!

I have 2 accounts 1 personal in a Google Workspace owned by our family, and another for work in another Google Workspace owned by my business. Do I have to create another email account to be able to use my Fitbit? No thank you: I have enough email accounts already. The fact that you are hesitant in adding the functionality to Google workspace is making me doubtful if Google Workspace is the right thing for my business, to be honest, and I have just got it.

Google has this way of reminding us Google WorkSpace account users that, despite paying for that service, we are second class citizens...

Please fix this. Google Workspace is a must

Yes this a must have, since google removed the ability to have a custom domain without a workspace account a few years ago, and we were asked to migrate, then its been a pattern that additional service fitbit and nest don't work with workspace accounts it's not a good show

The sad part is that Google Fit works with Workspace accounts...

I cannot believe you still don’t support workspace accounts. Considering your owned by google this is frankly appalling. My kids Fitbit is now worthless. Good job. Yet again pathetic support from Fitbit.

When will paid workspace accounts be supported?

I understand pushing new features to unpaid accounts as a sort of wide public acceptance release, but really? We pay Google for services, but are often left out in the cold with device and app functions.

Standard Google. Long time Workspace user, do not use my personal Google Account as things get mixed up between accounts. Just bought Fitbit Charge 6, can't use it. Will return ASAP, ridiculous.

Please support Google Workplace accounts otherwise I will have to switch to another fitness application.

Could someone from Fitbit respond with feedback on the request?

It has been open for quite some time now

I just received a Google Watch 2 and then found out that it requires this Google account migration that we cannot do.

Recording fitness data is really important to me, so I then set up a brand new Google Account just for this purpose, and migrated my Fitbit account to it. Now the Google Watch app is saying that it still won't sync because I need to switch the entire watch over to this new fake account. "your accounts don't match"

So now my existing fitness data is stuck on a junk Google account and I still can't use it from this pixel watch 2.

This is not a good situation.

I have used Fitbit for 10 years now. But are considering to move to Apple Watch or something else if I am not able to use my Google Workspace account with Fitbit. I am not going to make a new gmail.com-account when I already have a Google-account that I use daily for everything.

I had the same problem with a Google Home device. I could not use Google Workspace account on that either.
So I just returned it and bought Apple TV instead. So Google / Fitbit needs to fix this if they want to keep us as customers
