Support Google Workspace accounts to log in to Fitbit account

Right now people like myself that use a Google Workspace (so not something [at] gmail.com) account as their main account, are locked out of Fitbit "login with Google" features - and our accounts can't be migrated.

I've had Google Workspace-managed email for 8-9 years. I've had a Fitbit for 12 years. I finally upgraded to Charge 6, but now I have no way to migrate my data. I have personal gmail account, and I would be OK with migrating my data from my Workspace-managed account there. But there is no way to do this. How is that possible? It really makes no sense that I cannot migrate my Fitbit data to a Google account if I'm being forced to do it.

Same situation here. Please allow Google Workspace accounts.

Same situation here. I'm about to drop my workspace account completely. Google keeps adding restriction after restriction and increasing the price.

I was able to dig up an old Google account that I never use JUST TO POST THIS COMMENT, though.

Does seem odd.

My google workspace account is paid for. But cannot link it to Fitbit or Nest products now owned by google.

Yet if you create a new free google account I can link it up.

I don't understand the logic / reasoning behind this. Could it be a security issue?

Thanks

Craig

So, I've now lost access to all of my family because of this.

I can't move as my primary identity is my hope workspace account (I'm the tenant admin for my business).

My daughter's Fitbit disconnected and I can no longer add it without migrating the family to google...which I can't do because the account type is not supported.

This is beyond pathetic!

If other products can "login with Google" then why can't Fitbit "login with Google"

Please work out something!!!

This is really stupid Google. My 92yr old father-in-law was using his workspace account with the Fitbit app on his iPhone and it worked fine for years. He just got a new iPhone and is unable to access his account because workspace accounts are not allowed. Seriously? It was working fine, why did you have to break it? Please fix this.

For people still facing this issue; they are not going to fix it. But there is a way, that at least for me was acceptable.

My workspace is configured that * [at] mydomain.ext always end up in my mailbox.

so i decided onan alias on my workspace domain email fitbit [at] mydomain.ext.

i created a fresh google account without gmail on this email address, making that a non-workspace google account, but making the mail ending up in the workspace. Then i successfully connected that to fitbit to log in.

@Aiwha
Not sure I'm following this idea... doing this allows you to receive communications that were sent to the fitbit [at] mydomain.ext email would arrive to your normal workspace account's catch-all feature, however, notifications, sign-ins, MFA, data logging, and historical data are all still tied to that new account.

This is still two accounts with nothing linked to the original workspace account. Petty sure you could accomplish the same thing by just having the new account use a free gmail account and set it to forward all messages to your workspace email.

Am I missing something?

The difference is, that it’s not a random gmail, but just an alias/sub-email from your workspace. Which for me is acceptable. I didn’t want a random gmail.

I use a google workspace account and manage the workspace. I would like to be able to use the google workspace account I have already to be able to migrate my fitbit account.

@Aiwha  The point @Dyltone is making is that it's still an additional account. Everyone with a Workspace can probably make an alias, but that alias isn't where the data is synced or stored.

This has been an issue for YEARS, with hundred of comments seeking the capabilitiy in this frum alone.

Maybe we should change the dierction of this thread to be: what fitnes wearables are out there that DO sync with a Workspace account?

Does Google Health Connect provide ANY of the funtionality we're seeking? Or does it only integrate with other apps such as the Fitbit native app and account that will soon be deprecated?

Health Connect works with many apps and lets you sync. For now I sync between Google Fit, FitBit, Samsung Health, and a medical app called ViHealth (for the ViatomTec devices). When Fitbit stops, my data will already be synched with Google Fit, Samsung Health... and those work with my workspace account.

Hum... with my above post :

And to think that given the stopping of support for Workspace accounts, I'll probably not make 10 years. Pity for FitBit.

It's been long enough that I thought Google would have fixed this issue by now. So disappointed and frustrated. I am sure 340+ votes is just a drop in Fitbit/Google's overall user base, but many Google Workspace users are very loyal to Google and have been for many, many years (my family has had ours since nearly the beginning). I haven't been a Fitbit user for as long, but I still have several years of data I don't want to lose. So now I have to create a separate 'not my usual, everything is linked to' email to keep it? Ridiculous.

Could we get someone from google to look at this before the cutoff date in 2026? Leaving this many people without an answer for his long is cruel.
