Switch between Child to parent view without logging out

Right now when going back to parent mode from he child view you have to confirm your password but it then logs you out and you have to re-enter your email and password. Can the password confirmation be the only security instead of having to type in all the extra info?

I have a Fitbit, and two of my children have the Fitbit Ace. I find that family sharing is quite clunky. I have to log into one kids account to see steps, then log into my account to then just log into another kids account. It’ll be easier to just be able to go from one kid to the other. Also, it would be nice to have an “at a glance” feature to see their steps without logging into their accounts. I’d also like to get an email summary of their weekly steps like my Fitbit sends me.

Hello,

I've had an account for 4 years now. then I joined a company that offers benefits that include discounts for fitbit products when we set up a fitbit account using the corporate credentials. it would be nice if I did not have to use 2 accounts on fitbit and instead be able to link or merge the 2 so I can track everything on one dashboard.

Thank you.

Hi @carmenac! Great suggestion, thanks for sharing.  I've moved it into a similar suggestion. Hopefully we will have support from other users since more votes and comments an idea has the more visibility and momentum it gains.

We got the fitbit ace so that our children could join in with challenges as a family (They both previously had the Garmin Vivofit Jr) Looked at a standard fitbit for them but the wriststrap was to large so Ace was ideal solution... But both children are miffed that they cannot add their own avatar and that all the default avatars supplied by fitbit are too babyish.

As others have said already it would be great if they could do this, even if the guardian had to approve the image - This was something that Garmin offered for their childs fitness tracker, so my kids were both expecting to be able to do this on their new trackers.

I have had emails going back and forth for 2 days with Fitbit on this same subject. I have a Charge 2 and my wife a new Alta. I wanted to have an integrated account whereby I could include her Dashboard under my account as she does not have a pc or mobile smart phone. I was told, eventually by Fitbit, that it is a great idea but at present this is not an option or feature that is currently available. I would think that this is a simple option to add and I can see that many others have similar or same request.

Totally agree with original poster. I have 4 kids and it’s a pain.

Also most of the time the app crashes when you do more than 2 changes and the you have to completely resign in. Which is another problem, why doesn’t the app remember user names? Why can’t we login quickly with social accounts or better yet finger id?

Ps the moderator has moved your suggestion and it doesn’t really match up. It’s so clunky and hard to go through all the sign up log in agree to terms no one is going to bother commenting. This is fitbits hope. They don’t seem interested in actually listening and supporting their customers. Wish I had known before purchasing. I guess the no water proofing on kids tracker should have given me a heads up.

bought 2 Fitbit Aces for the holidays. Very annoying to have to switch between accounts. This needs to be improved for users to enjoy experience

The only problem I see with this, is it the child has their own tablet, then they will be easily able too switch to the parent view.

This then will override any child safety that has been added to the child account.

There will need to be a parent controlled option for this feature.

child on tablet should be in own profile. I just want when logged into parent profile to see all the kids stats (how did my kid sleep last night?), without having to login to kids profile.

Yes but currently the child account on the tablet is  the same as the child account on the parent phone. If it is changed for the phone, it will be changed for the tablet. Some children even have their own phones.

Both see the same profile in child view and both have the ability to log out and back into the parent account.

If the log in was removed, an option would need to be added to prevent a child from switching.

I like that you can change the background to something other than the default. However, my 9 year old son was very sad that he changed the background and can't go back to the default. He thinks all the choices are too baby. The fitbit is designed for kids 8 and up, not toddlers. Please add an option to put the default picture back. And please make the choices more grown up. His older cousin his has smiley faces that he likes but he doesn't have that option. There are other "kid friendly" options don't don't look like it belongs in a preschool app. I think there needs to be a larger variety, or just less baby. Also, it would be great if he could add a picture of his own with parental approval.

I agree. I think you should be able to add a picture to a child's account

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this suggestion. We do not offer child accounts to use profile pictures based on our privacy standards. We appreciate all of the input we receive from our customers and do not currently have plans to release this feature. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us and we will let you know if anything changes.

As the authorized user, it would be nice if you could select which Fitbit device you want to look at using a drop down menu in the family account rather than signing in or going to another account to see stats.  Also, syncing of multiple Fitbit devices to one account would be super helpful rather than having to go into the family account and switching to the Ace (or other device) and then syncing.

I think fitbit should revamp their account settings altogether. I think it should allow one main family account where you can view your family's progress throughout the day (both spouse, children and options to add other family members as well). It would be simple to do as the stays upload to the website dashboard anyways. I think the option to add a child should be tied to all fitbit products. My child has always been at the top of his charts for height and weight, but not overweight... And the ace wouldn't fit him. This option could be as simple as asking for. An age or of the child is under 12 with a box to check. This would allot children the capability to make their own decisions as to what they want  if the parents choose to expand on that and allow fitbit to make more money within that too (I've seen posts where parents said kids wanted a different style of fitbit).

Also allow. For a family plan and profile within fitbit coach.

Nice suggestion, thanks for sharing. I think a lot of families could find this useful to track exercise altogether. We look forward to hearing what other community members think

Please!  Having to enter the password when switching back & forth to sync them (another annoying task) is tiresome!  I think someone also may have suggested having a setting in the parental control if we want to force PW entry when switching back & forth.
