Take/Make phone calls on Versa series

 I was wondering if you could add a feature where you can call somebody on the ionic. For instance, if someone is calling me on my phone, I can answer the call on my fit bit, and talk to them from my fit bit. That would be amazing if I could do that, or if you guys want to take it to the next level, you can make a contact list and I could choose somebody that I want to call from the ionic.  (Obviously, since the ionic does not have a Sim card, you would have to be connected to your phone.).  This feature is similar to the Apple Watch.

Currently I have the ionic, would love to upgrade to the versa. I see not point it has similar functions from what I seen. I'm not an apple person. But would love to see similarities such as being able to use my watch to call or answer call/doing the talk text. ... till then I dont plan on upgrading.

I would like to suggest that the user be able to answer calls from their wrist device and later on be able to make calls from the device.

It would be great to have the ability to initiate calls and send text messages from the Versa. Even if you could choose, say, three contacts that you could call/text, this would be great in emergency situations where you can't physically get to your phone.

Bluetooth apis dose allows devices to start a call, see the call status, and allow to end a call, change the volume and even mute and unmute the call.

This should work on all platforms (since using Bluetooth features ) and versa already implements parts of this api to control volume and sound on android using versa classic profile.

Just to complete the picture . If i connect the versa through versa classic, i can control the volume of the call and end the call using the play/pause button.

It would be great to complete the experience by showing that the phone is in call, change the buttons to end call, mute And change sound. 

Also it is possible to download the contacts and initiate a phone call using this api, which could have been amazing .

Does the versa or ionic have a mic and speaker and if it did, what the hell are you doing Fitbit? Add it!!!

It would be nice if the "new" Ionic / Versa model allowed you to take calls and actually talk on the watch without the phone around.  The Samsung Gear 3 does this and that "smart watch" isn't much bigger than the Ionic.  

To me, that feature would be more valuable the being water resistant because I personally am not around water / a pool very much.

Versa here. Disappointing that this watch can't keep pace with the Apple Watch in using the bluetooth or wifi to answer, reject and talk using the phone feature as long as the actual cell phone is nearby.

When you have the reply option, it is not always what you need. You have to find you phone, open it up, then reply. I know that the Apple Watch, and Samsung Gear has it, and it would make it so much more functional.

I would love Fitbit to go to that next level in smart watches and develop that watch that not only answers the phone, but that I am able to talk through or that I do not need my phone nearby in order to take a phone call through my watch.  I love Fitbit products and I really hope you are developing this.  I volunteer to test it!

I have been using fitbit's for years. I've had four different models and I currently have Fitbit ionic. I have contemplated switching to an iPhone from my Android and getting an Iwatch for the purpose of being able to make phone calls and send text messages through my watch. The only thing that has kept me back is the water resistance levels of the iWatch. Even though Apple says its water resistant it does not say waterproof like the Fitbit ionic. I am extremely athletic both in the pool and outside and it need the security of knowing my watches safe. Please come up with a newer version have an ionic with the capability to make phone calls and send text messages.

I think that we should be able to accept a call and have I come through Bluetooth headphones or earbuds. Also can you make it we’re we can call some one when ever not just if we get a miss call or voicemail. Can you make a texting too were we can text when ever not just if someone text us and someway to do it on iOS. Can someone just make a FREE app with this.

making the versa be able to be used independent Of the phone for android users even if it requires it's own cell line like apple watch. I LOVE my versa and people already confuse it with apple watch haha. But I can't talk messages or make and answer phone calls like my wife can and she loved the versa also but switch to apple watch because she had abilities fit bit isn't coming out with. I saw the versa two and love it but there is no need for me to upgrade to it only for Alexa 😕 please for the next versa back up us android users and let us feel as special as the apple people always do give us a great product to rub in their face!

update the fitbit versa 2 to enable phone call sending and receiving if apple can do it fitbit can,i love my fitbit but would like the capability to answer and make calls through a smart watch i currantly own a HTC phone but would consider an apple i phone for the smart watch capabilities

This thread has left me very confused about whether you can use the Versa to initiate a call on your phone (generally using Bluetooth headphones linked to the phone to do the talking/listening). 

I see that it's not possible to use the Versa as a microphone or speakers for a call on the phone, and it's very not possible to use the Versa as a Dick Tracy style wrist-phone. 

My Pebble watch is losing battery life and I don't want to downgrade by switching to a Versa and losing the dialer (use watch as a remote control to initiate a call on the phone) capability. I don't care whether the dialer is in an app or built in, but I haven't been able to find a clear and up to date answer anywhere.

There is currently no way that I am aware of to do what you suggest. Even
answering calls is somewhat limited. Without headphones it seems to answer
to handset instead of speaker.

I rechecked the app list. Still no phone or dialer. There COULD be. There
are apps to take pictures etc. But still no app to skip forward on Google
Play music.

Hopefully now that Google bought them some of these longstanding ignored
design issues will be addressed though.

Please please please come out with the versa3 that has talk to text and can answer and use watch for phone calls. I don't understand why this new Versa2 doesn't have the option. I was SO EXCITED when I saw the Vera 2 released because I thought, YES is has a microphone and speaker so surely it has talk to text at the least. I just don't understand why Fitbit wouldn't do that because it would make SO MANY MORE people purchase Fitbit. It would make Fitbit one of the next smart watches... BUT, until Fitbit  gets with the program like all the other smart watch companies,  I will not be buying or recommending Fitbit until they get with the program. The technology is there so why aren't they taking advantage of it? I love my versa, but I need something I can AT LEAST reply to text messages by voice text.
