Third-party App push notifications on Fitbit screen for All

I and many others have liked, posted, complained and begged Fitbit to allow/enable notifications.  This is a request to Fitbit to enable, at the choosing of the user of the Fitbit tracker (Charge, Charge HR, Alta, Charge 2, & Surge) to have what ever app notifications they want for both iPhone and Android devices display on the Fitbit tracker screen.  This idea suggestion eliminates the need for individual idea suggestions for types of phones or apps that people want to get notifications for, we want the choice to select which ones (like third-party apps such as BitTicker have done for us in the past).  I own a Charge HR, but I want this for all Fitbit trackers, not just mine.  Please give this a thumbs up and post comments on your agreement with this. (And yes, we all know you want Whatsapp part of these choices, don't complain about those of us that still use SMS).  It's about CHOICE of apps, not just Whatsapp.

A recent 10-08-2016 moderator (AndrewFitbit) post on the 'More Notifications' suggestion is what inspired me to do this as it suggests we divide up and make suggestions on each app feature and each device and each tracker.  That is counterproductive.  We need to unite!

Ah well, I am in fact planning on upgrading to a more advanced device, and was even considering the Blaze. I decided not to go with Fitbit for my upgrade due to the simple fact that I don't like that it's been months and we've got 0 response on this thread. Any update would be nice, whether they'd be planning this or not, because as far as I can see, there's a big demand for this feature. Yet they decide to keep us in the dark ("haha you already bought the device so we've got your money and we don't care anymore. Upgrade or deal with it").

I've spent a decent amount of money on this device so some customer support would be nice. There's a fair share of other brands and models in the same price range to go with so I really don't get where this attitude is coming from but it's really something to get fed up with.

Probably will be upgrading as soon as the Garmin Phoenix 5 comes out, which is a totally different price range entirely but still. Even if you look into the cheaper models (Vivoactive etc.) it comes with certain benefits that Fitbit simply "can't" provide (yet) because of their "high standards", i.e. third-party app notifications, waterproofing(!), find my phone (,and the sportstracker I'm expecting).
Too bad I didn't hear of this brand earlier. I got somewhat hyped because of the Fitbit commercials on TV. I still don't think I bought this device without purpose though because it motivates me on daily basis. But I think any other sports device would've given me the same feeling, too bad I went with an overpriced model to start with 🙂

So will be selling my charge 2 soon and go with another brand entirely 🙂

so James Park (CEO of fitbit) today talked about how to get the late adopters to buy fitbit devices and said: "The way we plan on capturing those users is more on the software side." well, then here is a starting point James....

Fitbit Alta - third-party app notifications in iOS

- any app that has a notification pops up on the Alta (just like the Blaze provides notifications).

Someone sends you a message on Facebook Messenger, a notification pops up on the Alta. A gmail email, Alta displays a message.

To be honest there's a huuuuge gap between the CEO and the product. Like, for instance, everytime I leave the gym I gotta log on to FitBit and change the activity I logged as "Workout" to "Rowing Machine". Why isn't it possible to add the activity "Rowing Machine" to the tracker?

I feel that the lack of synergy that led to this policy of only having notifications on higher end devices goes a bit further than greed. It's greed combined with sheer stupidity and no customer insight.

I'm done with this thread. When my Charge HR 2 dies I'll move to the competition.

If you are looking here to decide "Should I buy a fitbit?" (I phrased it that way to get more hits from Google), DO NOT BUY A FITBIT. THERE ARE BETTER OPTIONS.

Over and out.

When will there be what's app notifications on the flex 2 for IOS?

My partner has got flex 2 as well and a Samsung Galaxy and gets what's app notifications how hard can it be to add this feature for IOS?

In lieu of any Fitbit humans coming on and stating it out loud; I believe it will never happen (as a few others have bravely mentioned)

Fitbit want you to fork out and buy the more expensive models i.e Blaze or Surge so I cant see them adding this functionality on "cheaper" models anytime soon.

Would love to be proven wrong, but in the mean time I would look elsewhere.

This forum used to have Fitbit humans frequently come on and give updates and feedback....but seems they may have got a little too big to care. Sad really as this was one of the reasons why I started using them in the first place.

You say about Fitbit wanting you to fork out for a Blaze or a Surge. I have
a Surge and it doesn't do notifications natively yet! I'd go for a Blaze
instead which supports app notifications (which is cheaper!) I can get
notifications on Surge using the Android app Fit Notifcations (for Fitbit)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.abhijitvalluri.android.fitnotifications

Come on Fitbit! Do this already, please!

My Apologies Kisty, I thought Fitbit had at least got their sh*t together for the Surge...but apparently not.

I then concur....come on Fitbit, stop dragging you heals and at least communicate that you are not going to support IOS so we can get on with our digital / fitness lives via another product or just get it sorted!

I fear that our hope/faith in you is dwindling......

Need Whatsapp notification for iPhone. Its rather hilarious that android has it but iPhone doesn't. Please find a solution fast. I cant believe Fitbit hasn't thought of it yet and needs their customers to put a suggestion forward. Please give the customers a deadline too on when this will be solved, cant wait for the update for eternity

No it's doesn't have a screen but it still vibrates when you receive a call or message.
A notification that someone is trying to contact you and having that with for example What's App one of the most popular messaging apps around would be useful.

Any moderators able to confirm if 3rd Party notifications is going to be looked at?

Also how many votes are required to be able to move out of being 'New' to being looked at and taken seriously?

You've now got a combined 880 votes for this idea, if you aggregate it with this one: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Facebook-Messenger-and-Whatsapp-Notifications-on...

Just get it developed as a priority surely??

Yes, WhatsApp & email notifications are a much needed feature on all FitBit devices. And knowing the fact that Android provides these features makes it more frustrating! Smiley Frustrated

Whatsapp, Skype, Facebook Messenger, Slack and e-mail notifications need to be available. I hardly ever use text or receive calls.
