Third-party App push notifications on Fitbit screen for All

I and many others have liked, posted, complained and begged Fitbit to allow/enable notifications.  This is a request to Fitbit to enable, at the choosing of the user of the Fitbit tracker (Charge, Charge HR, Alta, Charge 2, & Surge) to have what ever app notifications they want for both iPhone and Android devices display on the Fitbit tracker screen.  This idea suggestion eliminates the need for individual idea suggestions for types of phones or apps that people want to get notifications for, we want the choice to select which ones (like third-party apps such as BitTicker have done for us in the past).  I own a Charge HR, but I want this for all Fitbit trackers, not just mine.  Please give this a thumbs up and post comments on your agreement with this. (And yes, we all know you want Whatsapp part of these choices, don't complain about those of us that still use SMS).  It's about CHOICE of apps, not just Whatsapp.

A recent 10-08-2016 moderator (AndrewFitbit) post on the 'More Notifications' suggestion is what inspired me to do this as it suggests we divide up and make suggestions on each app feature and each device and each tracker.  That is counterproductive.  We need to unite!

Push notification support is the only thing preventing me from pulling the trigger on buying a Charge 2. I really hope Fitbit isn't purposely holding off on the feature as a way of differentiating it from the Blaze... the Blaze is a lot more bulky and frankly one of the less attractive looking smart watches in my opinion...

I vote for this. its just annoying that i only get sms and imessage on my fitbit charge 2 which is frustrating because i hate the looks of apple watch and charge 2 is exactly what i need. its just a software limitation so surely you update the firmware to get them supported. i get more messages on whatsapp & viber then i do on sms or imessage. please bring notifications for all apps fitbit devices.

Seeing how old this post is and the lack of any new information regarding the issue, just tells me that Fitbit doesn't give a **ahem** since we already bought their product.

Cool beans. When my Charge HR2 dies I'll just buy one from someone in the competition who can be bothered with writing some 50 lines of code to satisfy their customers.

yeah well i bought charge 2 couple of days back so i will be returning it back to amazon today. such a shame though.. charge 2 looks dope in gun metal.

@DumonsterPT buddy if you are on android then you are in luck because there is an app called "Fit Notifications" through which you can have full push notifications be that whatever app. since i am on iOS i am out of luck.

For sure: i had a cheap band and it had third party notifications.

I've bought $30 I5 Plus previous to my Alta purchase. I assumed third party notification is one of the basic function since my $30 fitness tracker flawlessly worked with third party notification. Not just whatsapp but all other third party notification. Spent $100 for a downgrade. I don't understand why fitbit is not coding for such needy, critical function.

I just got my Alta today but I think I have to wear my $30 fitness tracker tomorrow.

Any update on why this is working for Android but not for iOS? or is the Android functionality availably due to third party software?

It works on Android due to third party software. Fitbit stops giving a **ahem** about someone the minute they buy their device. It would take something like 5 work hours to get this working for both Android and iOS but they want us to buy the more expensive devices to have this basic feature. Pathetic.

XandOr, this is not working for Android.  A little over a year ago, I was gifted a Charge HR and I discovered a third party app that worked to display as many push notifications as I wanted on my Charge HR.  In a firmware update it eliminated the ability to use the third party app.

Some newer Fitbits, Charge 2, Blaze or Alta may have some limited ways of displaying more app push notifcations, but it is still not what we want.  DumonsterPT is correct, Fitbit is doing this to continue having people buy the latest and supposedly greatest new product line, but they keep missing the mark.

As the originator of this feature suggestion, my (probably delusional, at this point) request is for Fitbit to actually listen to us and give both Android and iPhone users the ability to select as many app push notifcations as we want to display on our Fitbit.  It's that simple.  But, Fitbit is only interested in profit, not customer service.

Hi, I totally agree, this is technically posible and available for other models, including this features in other models should not be complicated. Is there any any to apply pressure to get this done ? Social media? Twitter, Facebook ?  This is the only way big companies listen because that damage the marketing and reputation ... #fitbit #fitbitNotificationsforAll #fitbitnotListeningUsers

Does any moderator feel the need to comment on the above statement/shed light on the whole situation?

Would be greatly appreciated

WhatsApp, we chat, and Facebook messages please!!! I can't believe even xiomi has this feature but fitbit doesn't!

I can't believe that this doesn't exist for the Surge! I've found this third-party app which basically does this but why not you, Fitbit? This works a charm and I don't think it would take too much effort to do the same in the app. After all, this is supposed to be the high-end tracker from you so why don't you reflect that by making the Surge do what the Blaze and Charge 2 does anyway?

I have got the Fitbit blaze now, it does so much more then the charge 2.. notifications works like a charm.. returned charge 2 . Also the 2 software enhancements in charge 2 which is breathing sessions and cardio fitness level is also coming to Fitbit blaze in the next software update according to customer service but notifications for charge 2 are not even in the planning so I would suggest for iPhone users to buy blaze... cuz android users can download an app called "fit notifications" from the play store which gives them full notifications control.

@SunsetRunner No offense man, but you are the reason Fitbit doesn't give a **ahem**. They know our attitude is "Oh, you want make us a small favor? Cool, I'll just go give you more money then".

@DumonsterPT don't be naive, if they were to do it they would've done it by now. its been 6 months since release and Fitbit customer service confirmed it to me that there nothing planned for charge 2 in regards to notifications.  I was looking for a simple watch where my only necessity was notifications and I got that with blaze and lucky enough I got it in an amazon lightening deal for 80 bucks so in fact I paid far far less then the charge 2

no worries Axios, I'm sure they put it in the Charge 3, just another reason for you to buy another device 😞

what have they done to all the Pebble-people? sure they would have figured this out in 5 minutes...

@SunsetRunner I'm glad to see that you're happy with the Blaze and were able to get a deal on it. However, this thread is for people who want to see third-party/push notifications added to the other Fitbit devices with expressive enough displays. There are no known technical limitations to this (Pebble was able to do it no problem) and for many of us, it's not a matter of the Blaze being too expensive. For me personally, I much prefer the look, form factor, and battery life of the Charge 2 over the Blaze.

Fitbit may not care at the moment (at least from our point of view), but given that they even have a "Feature-Suggestions" board, it suggests that if enough of us want the feature, then they may eventually prioritize and add it with a firmware/app update.

As someone who works at a software + hardware company, customer support is usually instructed to say there are no plans for anything unless explicitly told by management, and that's usually when the feature is much closer to release. So take what they say with a grain of salt 😉

@ownaginatious it looks like we have a misunderstanding between us. its not that I got blaze or have any intention to hinder Fitbit's attitude towards support for notifications. the reason I got the charge 2 in the first place was I like its design and how slim It is and its a shame Fitbit doesn't support notifications on it because the blaze design is not for everyone. Fitbit should support notifications for all their devices before different fitbit devices appeal to different people. if you read the posts I have above, I have requested the same as everyone else in this thread.
