Third-party App push notifications on Fitbit screen for All

I and many others have liked, posted, complained and begged Fitbit to allow/enable notifications.  This is a request to Fitbit to enable, at the choosing of the user of the Fitbit tracker (Charge, Charge HR, Alta, Charge 2, & Surge) to have what ever app notifications they want for both iPhone and Android devices display on the Fitbit tracker screen.  This idea suggestion eliminates the need for individual idea suggestions for types of phones or apps that people want to get notifications for, we want the choice to select which ones (like third-party apps such as BitTicker have done for us in the past).  I own a Charge HR, but I want this for all Fitbit trackers, not just mine.  Please give this a thumbs up and post comments on your agreement with this. (And yes, we all know you want Whatsapp part of these choices, don't complain about those of us that still use SMS).  It's about CHOICE of apps, not just Whatsapp.

A recent 10-08-2016 moderator (AndrewFitbit) post on the 'More Notifications' suggestion is what inspired me to do this as it suggests we divide up and make suggestions on each app feature and each device and each tracker.  That is counterproductive.  We need to unite!

I think receiving snapchat notifications through your Fitbit would be a really good idea as Snapchat is a really popular social media app that everyone uses and I would like to receive my snapchats through my Fitbit

There is a benefit for e-mail alerts, covering the main business/personal apps. Outlook, iOS mail, gmail, ect.

Honestly I would have bought the similarly priced Samsung Gear S3 had I realized this feature wasn't available beforehand.

The handicapped "Smart Notifications" feature on the Alta is the ONLY feature that stops me from being a FitBit user. I returned my first Alta and have been hoping like hell that this would be addressed in the second generation one. But no, the Alta HR still doesn't really do "Smart Notifications". Still waiting and upvoting every iteration of this idea that hits this forum in the hopes that FitBit will actually read the feedback from it's users and make a simple change to what is almost the perfect product.

Please add 3rd Party notifications to charge 2.

It seems that this functionality is available on the android phones, but not iOS.  Basically SMS is old and has been replaced primarily by WhatsApp and to a lesser extent by FB Messenger.

Please see about getting WhatsApp notifications available and working on the Charge2.

Come on Fitbit! Your competitors have done it. So I'm sure you guys can do it too. I really hope you do before I decide to change to another brand.

I'll be returning my Alta HR soon if this is not fixed within a few weeks.  Major dissapointment considering that similar but cheaper/chinese alternatives already have this. From email, whatsapp, facebook messenger to regular facebook notifications.

Only showing SMS is useless without the others.

Third Party Application Notification is needed.
I have an AltaHR and find it unbelievable that a cheap Chinese band (Xiaomi Mi Band 2) with similar functionality is able to do it.
We don't need much just a simple vibration is enough.
My phone don't vibrate strong enough and some time I miss important notification.

Please make it happen.

Like I already said Third-Party notification is a must have.
But why is it not possible to have multiple source for SMS notification.
We should be able to select more than one App for the SMS. Nobody use only one app to communicate now.

Hi I would LOVE it if you guys at FITBIT would let us, the people that are buying your products,  choose what notifications we would like to accept on our Fitbit. I can't believe I had a cheaper product that allowed me to do this no problem, yous are letting yourselves down. Come on guys get your act together.

I've been looking to add WhatsApp notifications to my Fitbit charge 2 some say it's possible, but I can't seem to find the option in my settings anywhere to enable it :((

so I'm here wandering.,, is it available? or at least will it soon become a option? only thing that's letting the Fitbit down for me.

I'm still not able to choose WhatsApp notifications on my iPhone 6s. I'd happily replace the SMS notifications if that was even an option! Please please can this be done?

Get this working! My friends and family are asking, which one of fitbit they should choose.

I am only able to recommend the blaze, but this is to expensive and/or to big.

So you do not get this working, they will choose another tracker.

Or give us at least a schedule.

TL;DR: C'mon FitBit... Please allow for all app notifications to be shown via the FitBit devices already 😕   Others have done this, no reason you can't do it too, or better yet, buy their solution from them... Give them what they deserve for doing this part of your job for you.

I would love this feature for all FitBit Devices that have a scree, but I myself own a Charge 2.

The way I see it, these following facts are frankly ridiculous:

  • FitBit does not support notifications for more than 3 things: Incoming Calls, Calendar Notifications (of ONE Calendar app only), and SMS/IM notifications (you can choose only one app to show you IM\SMS Notifications!... What's up with that? In this day & age I bet 90% of the users use more than one app to message their friends & colleagues)
  • FitBit does not allow for any other notifications from any other apps. Like if I have a third party app that sends me reminders, or email summaries, or whatever other notifications I would love to have at the flick of my wrist... It has been done by third party apps that send those notifications to the FitBit device.. so why not do it built-in in a professional manner?
  • BitTicker is one of the two third party apps that I managed to find that could supplement for this lack of a feature - But now they have halted their developments... why, you ask? Weill it's because of, and I quote, "Fitbit frequently changing the way their notification features work".
You would think FitBit would try to support other developers trying to add in features so widely requested as this one... maybe even buy them into the company... After all, FitBit is kind enough to have an open API 🙂
But unfortunately that does not seem to be the case.
  • The only other app that still seems to support notifications from any app into the FitBit ("Fit Notifications (for Fitbit)" for Android for all of you interested), unfortunately only works with Android versions 4.4 or higher. I know, you'd expect the whole world to be upgraded by now, but many of us still use older devices like the Galaxy S3, and we cannot install the only app that has developers kind enough to give this functionality for free. Seriously FitBit - you should buy them out and incorporate them into your development team.

In short, please FitBit - make it possible for your users to choose which apps they want to receive notifications for within their FitBit devices.

I just bought the Fitbit Charge 2 and had no idea it couldn't receive whatsapp notifications, please please create an update to include this, we don't use SMS's in South Africa, so that feature means nothing to us. Would really appreciate it if the team can look into this request that many of the fitbit community share!
