More of a suggestion to Fitbit than a question - it'd be really nice to have a tile that helps track menstrual cycles since they're so tied to a woman's body, weight, food cravings, mood etc.
Ok, fitbit mods, obviously there is a need for this. Anyone with female biology (a.k.a. HALF of your users) needs this feature. Did you know that menstrual cycles affect heartbeats? I didn't. I had to ask my doctor why my resting heart rate varied so drastically. Instead of a little info graphic telling me that I'm less healthy at certain parts of the month, you may want to better serve your female users so they can more accurately monitor their health. That would be much more helpful.
So far, so good. It doesn't have food/water tracking, but I think there is a better chance of bellabeat adding those features than Fitbit ever adding a menstrual/fertility feature.
Hi there! So glad to see that you keep commenting and voting for this option, I think that it'd be a fantastic feature for all women. I know that this is something that most of you need and want, that's why our team always reviewing the Feature Suggestion board. Keep inviting your friends to vote, more votes and comments an idea gets the more visibility it gains.
Thanks a million for participating in the forums and for your patience!
Ladies, I'm out. I'm unsubscribing to the Fitbit community. Good luck with the fight - it's ridiculous that it's been over 3 years and they're not listening. Still loving my Apple Watch and have recently subscribed to Natural Cycles which is great so far. Peace out!
Just deciding which health tracker to get - and menstrual tracking is a really big deal for me. A bit shocked to discover that Fitbit doesn't do this TBH. Any plans to do this does anyone know?
I'm getting really annoyed that Fitbit seems to not care about this feature so much so that there are posts with valid questions being deleted.
I am thinking more and more about the Bellabeat. It really is a shame too, I have had such a positive interaction with fitbit when I call in about product issues.
It's pretty frustrating when something so simple to fix causes so much brand dissatisfaction.
RJFG, based on how long this has been an active topic and the tepid response from the company, I'd say that Fitbit will not be adding the feature anytime soon. Probably never.
I'm a little over a month in with bellabeat, after several years with Fitbit, and am glad I made the switch.
i was scrolling through trying to find info on here from Fitbit about when they might introduce it, but I can't find any.
i have endometriosis so this is pretty big deal for me, but even if I didn't it's pretty basic stuff, I would have thought...
i look at bellabeat a bit more. Is that the one with the leaf jewellery thing? TBH I'd prefer a wrist band that doubles as a watch. I'm wondering if I have to swallow hard and get an Apple Watch. The health app has menstrual tracking, does anyone know how well it integrates?p everything though?
The bellabeat is the one that looks like leaf jewelry. It can be worn on wrist, as a pendant or clipped on clothing. Doesn't have a food track feature or a watch.
I there was someone up-thread talking about Apple Watch, but I don't know if she bought one. The health app does seem like it integrates everything.
This is an email I have sent to the powers that be at "Fit Bit"
I have loved your products from the beginning. I couldn't wait to get my first pre-ordered Fit Bit. When it accidentally got run through the laundry one too many times and stopped working I gladly purchased another. When that one stopped working, there was no question I was going to replace it. However, now my current Fit Bit Alta has been sitting in a basket in my storage closet for weeks because I'm extremely disheartened by recent experience.
There are message threads on your site that are several years old that continue to be ignored, specifically regarding the addition of a tile for your app that would track menstrual cycles for women. It's a pretty simple idea, really. Add a tile that could be easily "hidden" by male users who do not need it. It wouldn't even have to be predictive in nature. Are you on your period today? Yes? CLICK THIS BOX!
That's only one idea. There are several widely used period tracking apps that could be synched with Fit Bit data, much like you are already doing with apps like "mapmyrun". I'm sure your developers could come up with even more creative and useful ideas.
My issue is this: The threads have been ignored for the most part, and any actual responses by moderators have been flip and placating in nature. Messages on Twitter have only been answered with a link to the message boards, sending us back through a loop to the ultimately ignored suggestions. Posts with legitimate questions and suggestions have been deleted by moderators. I cannot figure out why no reasonable answers have been given, even if it's just simply "this is not on our radar at this time."
I realize that a majority of your developers and executives are probably men who don't have to deal with having a menstrual period every month, but don't they realize that an extremely high percentage of their customer base DOES? Here are some fun facts for the guys:
- A woman's weight can fluctuate according to her cycle.
- It has been shown that women are more susceptible to soft tissue injury during certain parts of their cycle.
- Resting heart rates can vary from the norm for women during certain parts of their cycle.
-There is evidence that athletic ability can also be heightened during certain parts of a woman's cycle due to hormone level variations.
The bottom line is any health & fitness tracking system that does not include the tracking of menstrual cycles for women is simply incomplete.
Fit Bit is not alone in its lack of attention to this feature. Most trackers don't include this option. That being the case, my assumption would be that your developers would continuously be on the lookout for ideas and features that would entice new users, reignite excitement for current users, and make you stand out from the crowd in an extremely saturated fitness tracker market.
I'm currently on the lookout for a new tracker that does include this feature, but my hope is that the Fit Bit team will see this is something to be taken into consideration.
UPDATE: 8-28-2017
This was the response from the FitBit Team:
Hi Leah,
Thank you for that awesome insight.
In my opinion, that additional tile hits the spot. The FACTS that you provided is indeed awesome. Your idea is inspiring, and it should be known by our developers.
We'll see to it that your suggestion would be heard and be developed for the updated app. That we can assure you. So don't be on the look out for another tracker on a different company, because Fitbit would be the one to develop the menstrual tile.
Aside for your amazing comment, you stated that you're tracker is sitting in a basket in your storage. Why is that? Is it having issues?
If it is, let us know of the issue and we'll be glad assisting you.
We look forward hearing from you. Let us know if you have additional questions.
I think it would be an amazing feature if there would be a tile to track your mestrual cycle as It affect a huge group of fitbit users! By tracking your body tracking your menstraul cycle is very important as is has a huge influece on the female day to day life! Also ups and downs in your training could be based on different hormone levels in your blood!
So a menstrual cycle tile would fit perfectly into the dashboard to track your individual healthy lifestyle!! 🙂
We know the Clue app sycs, but it doesn't sync enough information and not everyone can download that particular app. The problem is that fitbit is supposed to be a health and fitness tracker but refuses to add a simple tile for over half of its users. It's easy to hide a tile, if male fit it users don't want to see it, they can easily do that. But everyone who is born female has to deal with menstruation and it affects literally everything so it would be nice to have something on my health and fitness tracker that actually helps give me an accurate picture of my health and fitness.
It's super obvious that the developers are either all male or don't give a damp about allowing women the ability to accurately track their health.
Also, for the users looking for other trackers that actually help track their health: I've found that the apple watch and the Bella beat have period trackers. Really pissed I didn't know about those until after I bought this stupid thing. Would have saved me the serious headache of seeing that, once again, companies don't give a **ahem** about their female users.
I wrote to Clue because I was seeing no data syncing between the two apps and this was their response:
*Sabrina Luna* (Clue)
Aug 21, 11:04 CEST Hello Leah!
I know this can be a bit confusing 🙂 but basically, nothing changes after connecting Clue and Fitbit. You will be able to see that they are connected because the function is toggled in the settings, but for now, that is all.
Last summer we conducted an internal pilot study using the Fitbit HR to see if there’s a correlation between heart rate and the cycle, and turns out, we noticed a spike in heart rate data before ovulation. With more data, we’ll be able to confirm if this is, in fact, true and continue pushing female health knowledge forward.
Syncing your Fitbit data with Clue will allow us to improve period and PMS predictions and conduct (always anonymized) research. Our research team will be analyzing heart rate data from connected Fitbit HR devices to investigate the connection between heart rate and the menstrual cycle.
So please stay tuned for more Fitbit-related features in Clue in future! Please write us again if you have more questions!
Dang, I was hoping Clue would at least import my weight, even though I don't see a graph function, which is what I'd really like to be able to compare my period and my weight!

Moderator edit: title for clarity.
Since they have added the section in Clue for weight, I am hoping that eventually that will get synced. Fingers crossed.
