I don't understand why this isn't already built into the app. I have been using a work-around for the past few weeks with great results, but it would be nice to NOT have to do a work-around for this.
For anyone interested in trying it... Start tracking your ride with the App in Run or Hike mode, just take note of the time you begin. After your done tracking your ride, the App will show you the Time, Distance and Map of your ride. Then just go to Log Excercise, add a new entry under Bike with the same Start Time, Time and Distance. After a few minutes when you check your excersice log the Bike entry you made will have incorporated the Map and even give you a detailed graph of your speed during the ride. Then just delete the one you tracked as Run or Hike.
* Actually as long as you have the start time correct, even if you enter 1 hour of biking, FitBit will actually adjust it based on the tracking it did, in this example it changed it to 54:32 and created the speed graph on it's own.
So FitBit... Please just add a BIKE TRACKING feature so we can do this the easy way?! 🙂
It would be super awesome if Fitbit could collect cycling data from other cycling apps like Strava or Cyclemeter because the batteries on the phones last longer and have the GPS and accelerometers.
Girva - This is a nice work around. I am going to try this out pretty soon. I remember seeing somewhere that you can now link your strava and fitbit accounts. I did not get time to explore that, did anone try that our either?
Fitbit - Please add a BIKE TRACKING FEATURE to your app.
I agree with cybercress. It would be great if Fitbit would import Cyclemeter data. At this stage though I would just like someone at Fitbit to acknowledge all the requests we are making. Even if it was to tell us why we can't have the feature we all desire!
I would like to second everyone's vote on this. As soon as the feature is ready, I'll use it. I have severe arthritis in my ankle, so I cant walk long distances, but I bike. I'm sure there are others in this situation.
For GPS tracking on the fitbit app there should be a biking option besides the already there 'hike', 'run', 'walk'. In addition to calculating steps and calories that would have been done during workout by estimating.
This has been requested before and marked implimented. IT HAS NOT BEEN IMPLIMENTED
Other activities would be good to have GPS tracking, and active minutes counted, and have their calorie burn rates used. Have the phone app pull from our Favorite Activities List.
"Fit bit is great at tracking exercise ffrom walking, hiking, and running. When I go cycling, I have to track that exercise using other apps. the Fit Bit app should include a way to enter other types of exercise through the Track Exercise option on the app. this would be a grreat improvement and make the experience more universal."
Sorry if you've had this but I don't understand my the app only tracks Hike, Walk and Run. What about cycling and other activities? I find it really strange that I can't track my rides especially.
Hey Guys.. please please add this feature to charge HR, even before implementing the full featured tracker it would be worth having atleast a bike option under the activity type so that it disables steps and floors climbed, so the the data collected is not screwed up. Its annoying that even in workout mode the charge HR thinks im taking steps.
Adding the gps track functionality using the phone will definitely be a killer feature and put the competition out of business!
