My fitbit arrived today, Im desperate to lose weight and have decided to cycle to and from work everyday (in total 10 miles) and have just discovered there is no way to gps track this on the fitbit?! I think this is absolutely ridiculous! Yes I can enter stuff manually but that isnt accurate and doesnt even ask you your distance or speed etc! Please, please add cycling to the gps tracking function!!

What would be a great addition to the mobile app would be the ability to track cycling as well as the run, walk, hike options.
Purchased a FitBit Charge HR 2 last week, love it, and I love the gamification within the App. I'm really into it, the only let down I have found is the cycling. Whilst I appreciate that cycling isn't a pedometer activity and cannot measure cycles. but surely it can (like it does for a walk) track GPS. I've not tried an off road walk yet, i'm wondering if its the "off road" GPS thats the issue here.
It'd be a great feature to track GPS anywhere, can still measure heart rate and distance traveled as well as elavation etc due to their being a altimeter in the watch.
Looking forward to seeing what the future brings for FitBit, but good on you guys for getting people "moving again".
On Fitbit you can track your exercise for walking, running and hiking I bike most of the time and I do know you can log it in but it not always accurate and I would love if you were able to track your bike movements and routes it is hard to log bike rides and you don't get to have an accurate amount of kms and and how long you were biking for it would be awesome if you could add biking to your tracking section with the walk, run and hike
This should be an option because biking is as or more popular then running and the GPS tracking would be a useful tool in everyone's workouts! I love my fitbit but I will have to consider buying another brand that may do the things I need.
I TOTALLY AGREE! I have an Alta and it is fantastic. Exercise Tracking is pretty great, but wish there was an option to track Outdoor Bike. I recorded bike ride as run with exercise tracking and compared the calorie burn with value when entering the log in manually and it came out about the same. Maybe the app just needs another tag "Outdoor Bike" in addition to "Run," "Walk," and "Hike". Maybe?
I gave up. Between the lack of an option to track a bike ride on the app and the inaccurate distance issues with tracking a ride on the device by linking it to the GPS on the phone, it wasn't worth the trouble. So I fixed the problem by getting an Apple Watch Series 2. Strava app right on the watch. Boom. Done. Bye.
Yup. The Series two has GPS built in and with the Strava watch app you can start tracking a ride right from the watch totally independent from the app on the phone
Edited to add: I must say I am truly disappointed in fitbit. I like the Charge 2 form factor, I like their phone application a lot. It's their integration that stinks. My first fitness tracker was a Basis Peak (which was recalled). It was great. Played with IOS apps nicely, heart rate fed directly to Strava and other apps. I don' know if fitbit wants to be a serious fitness tracker or just something people get as a toy. If they want to be a serious fitness tracker their stuff needs to play with serious fitness apps better.
I just bought the Charge because I read somewhere that I could track my biking tours, only to discover that this is not an option yet. Like for Dutch people, danes bike a lot, so it makes no sense to have a fitbit, og you cannot track what you do most...
I'm astounded this still isn't possible. I've foolishly assumed the Fitbit app was fit for purpose to be used for general fitness tracking. It isn't. I'm nearly ready for a new fitness tracker, which is looking unlikely to be another Fitbit. Not good enough.
I can't believe that this tracker can't GPS my ride, monitor my heart rate and not add a bunch of steps to my daily total that I didn't take. Please create this feature. I love my tracker for everything else, but I have recently added cycling to my spring/summer activities and would like to see how many calories I am burning on my rides as well as the distance that I traveled.
Hi there, I too was suprised as I read a lot about the different trackers before deciding for the Fitbit which is promoted as including biking, and since this is my favorit sport activity, I am very dissapointed with my Fitbit.
After I made my previous comment, I fiddled with the app even more, and see that it seems like you can input your information about the bike ride-but none of it is actually changeable...I have another app that actually does track my bike rides and it would be so easy to input the info into my fitbit app...I'd even be happy with that sort of ability! 🙂
Is there any progress to adding Bike into the Exercise menu option on the FitBit Blaze? If the problem is number of steps, heart rate and distance are being tracked, so create some algorithm or whatever. It is a very limiting function. As a new user, I am uncertain how to even go about tracking it "manually."
I strongly suggest adding this as an option. Seems like the market would like it too.
I would very much like to see cycling added as a track able activity. I use the Fitbit One. I can only track walks, hikes, and runs. I live in a cycling friendly community and train to do the MS 150 each year. I have to use a separate app to track my cycling adventures, but would much prefer to use Fitbit. It seems like it would be quite easy to implement as similar activities/functions already exist. Please consider it.
My fit bit charge has recently broken and I decided to buy a garmin vivosmart hr+ instead of fitbit. This decision was made because fit bit could not track cycling. I love the Garmin and it works flawlessly for cycling, running walking or any other activity
