Track blood donations and increase calorie counts

I would like to see a "I donated blood" ability in the fitness tracking app.  Donating blood consumes about 600 calories and is good for the community.  I'd also like to see reminders every 8 weeks you are eligible to donate blood.  The fitbit community is about promoting good health and donating blood is certainly good for your health and the health of others desperate for life saving interventions, that is, if you are fit enough to donate.

**I freely give this idea with no ownership and wave any and all claims on any future possible development by fitbit.**

I too donate blood regularly and would love something for calorie counting that shows this. It has a big hit on the body and you need to consume more for your health. Thanks!

I would also love to see this feature.  Any progress?

Another vote, please!!!  I'm making up a different calorie burn to account for it...  But listing it would be great visibility and might inspire more blood donors!

Give whole blood every eight weeks so tracking would be great.

I would like this as activity too. I donate on schedule and if it is 600 calories that is 1-1.5 meals for some of us!

I would also like to see this with the added factor of heartrate impact. I donate double red blood cells or whole blood several times a year and I notice a significant impact on my exercise heartrate and stamina. I would like to be able to track this impact and see how long it lasts for double red vs whole blood to decide when to donate.

I also donate blood as often as I can. I would love to see this feature, as you do have to eat more food and can’t exercise before or after you donate.

I too would love to track blood donations and have them count in my overall calorie total. I just donated my 84th unit today!

@Paws1701 I'm only at 50, so good on you.  Congrats!

I am a blood platelets donator, so if this is implemented, I'd also like to see an option for blood platelet donations in addition to the more-common whole-blood donations.

I would like if they add that feature to but for now I just log a Yoga exercise and set the blood donation time duration from start to finish and adjust the calories to 650. At least I have an idea of my BPM when donating blood.

This is also essential for period tracking. Donating (which was extra large) during menstruation appears to have lengthed the time of the cycle by as much as 6 days. It would be incredibly useful to have blood donations on the menstruation calendar for tracking further and prove out causation.

Found this thread when searching if there was an option for this -- I think it'd be really great!

Hey I was just looking for this also. I regularly donate platelets & being able to account for that impact would be a nice addition to the app.

Thanks!

Here joining the chorus! I've donated quite a few times, especially now that I work at a hospital and it's easy to donate. I think it'd be nice to see if there are physiological effects that the watch can capture after donations.
