Track rowing data - Strokes, SPM, Time

Using Fitbit One or similar device attached to leg near knee, monitor up/down repetitions and record total strokes, strokes per minute, and time.  Ideally provide real time info via app on phone.  Alternatively, device could be in pocket or elsewhere on body and determine data via back and forth motion.

Great idea. Still could be worn on wrist with the rowing action.

Rowing feature

As an avid rower I would welcome a rowing app. With GPS for rowing on water, without GPS if rowing on an ergometer. Concept II ergometers have a bluetooth feature in the meantime, so why not be able to link e.g. heartrate measurement on fitbit with Concept II so it shows on the Concept II monitor.

For rowing on water, the following features would be ideal (all rowers will love you for these!):

- Stroke rate

- 500 m split times

- Speed (expressed as time per 500 m)

- Distance per stroke

- Distance rowed

- GPS route rowed

- Total strokes rowed

Ideally, this should track real-life rowing as well as gym.  I live aboard a sailboat and find myself in a rowing dinghy more often than on a machine in the gym.

This will help Fitbit One users tracker such an intense workout like rowing, thanks for sharing!

Concept 2 is a popular indoor rower widely used in home setting as well as in commercial gyms and competitive rowing clubs to race. Software of the PM5 monitor integrates the data very well with the ErgData app which syncs online to Concept2 log book. Would be great if Fitbit would manage to have Blaze / Charge2 sync and save workouts on the Fitbit app.

A popular App for rowers is CrewNerd. Wouldn't suggest you include all the functionality but a stroke rate, Cal's used would be useful to know. Also under the excersice heading 'Rowing' - that would help both ergo users and water rowers.

HI @techtoyman thanks for the suggestion. Though Fitbit One is a popular product, we are always working to streamline our offerings as we introduce new products, which are coming later this year. Fitbit One will be removed from Fitbit.com and some retail partners over the next few months.

If you’re looking for a new tracker, we recommend considering the other discreet options we offer—Fitbit Zip if you prefer a clip-based tracker or Fitbit Flex 2 if you prefer a slim, wrist-based tracker. You can learn more about these trackers plus the rest of the Fitbit family of products at https://www.fitbit.com/compare.

Please note that we will continue to support the One, even when it is no longer available, and provide troubleshoots and replacements for devices in warranty.

We apologize for any inconvenience and hope we can continue to provide you with Fitbit trackers you love and help you reach your goals.
