Turn off quick view when I'm sleeping (or at customizable times) aka 'Night Mode'

I love the quick view feature however when I'm sleeping I tend to wave my arms around which activates the display which sometimes wakes me up, especially if my wrist is close to my face.

My fitbit knows when I'm sleeping as it tracks my sleep so how about having the capability to disable quick view automatically whilst I'm sleeping, in fact don't even have it as a selectable option just don't trigger quick view when my fitbit knows I'm sleeping.

On the off chance that anyone from Fitbit might deign to look at this very comprehensive thread - another vote for a feature to stop/dim the display at night without having to do about 20 steps on the phone each please

Yes I agree - some form of sleep mode to stop the bright light - I end up sleeping with my hand under my pillow to hide it! I'd take my Fitbit off at night, but I find the sleep analysis really interesting, and think it should be something that suits life 24/7

Completely agree with the need for a "do not disturb" time for quick view.

This has been an issue/complaint for a while now. Now, the display does come on for me at times because of the 'tapping' to turn the display on with QuickView off.  Annoying no matter what the scenario.

IMO, this is NOT heavy lifting. With 1,600+ votes for this one thread (there are multiple for this display issue and assuming MANY more who simply never come here to comment) if I was managing the development I would set the time aside just to get this off the list and make paying customers happy (and yes, I can appreciate they have dozens of other problems and enhancement requests). Why? Because Fitbit touts the fact they track sleep. And the display is a PITA for a lot of customers when sleeping, so it's a conflict resolution priority. See?!

Options:

> Display Normal (all normal actions will turn display on)

> Display Partial Off During Sleep Times (Quick View and tapping inactive, button press active)

> Display Full Off During Sleep Times (QuickView, tapping and button press inactive. Note that holding the button for 3 seconds in this mode will turn the display on momentarily.)

Easy peasy. Addresses all scenarios. The last one with the long press at least lets the customer see the display if they happen to be late to bed or early to rise!

PUH-LEEZE do an update where QuickView is scheduled! It now has to be turned off, which is not ideal. Great feature, but someone didn't think it through.

I bought the Charge 2 mostly for tracking my sleep but have found it so useful during the day as well. By not having the ability to turn off quick view during normal sleep hours it is actually negatively affecting my sleep, the opposite of why I bought it in the first place. Please make this feature happen.

It would also be nice to be able to adjust the length of time that quick view is displayed.

I'm glad to see this is uber-requested feature and I'm not alone 🙂

I'll search around, find all the related posts and vote them up. Gimme a minute.

To fitbit representatives: there are many duplicates of this feature request. Please aggregate them.

we would benefit from being able to tune the quick-view.

I do strongly advocate that:

* it should be possible to make Quick-View to turn off at specified time

* it should be possible to tune the length of the screen-on activated by the Quick View

I figured that the heart-rate lights are not an issue if the tracker is tight on my wrist.

But that quick-view is really bright.

Also consider this please: possibility to turn on the screen by tapping should be also possible to turn-off with the same schedule as a quick-view.

And yet another vote to fix this issue....  I've had mine since it came out and have been frustrated by it since, you guessed it, day one. You can always put painters tape over it....

I've given up hope of this problem being fixed, having posted several times
over the months since buying my Charge 2. I now wear a black stretchy wrist
sweatband over it at night. It's not ideal!

Omg yes! I'm constantly blinded by my husband's or my Fitbit at night. I've had to take mine off at night it's so annoying.

I've pretty much given up hope of Fitbit listening to its customers at all. The don't even respond to these threads, much less act on them.

As far as nighttime, though, I've about decided to just take it off at night.  It's sleep statistics, at least for me, are pretty much meaningless. It thinks I walk 50 to 150 steps in my sleep every night, and of course treats those false steps as being awake, so I can't actually read anything into the stats anyway.

I asked on Twitter if they are concerned or not about what their consumers really want. response :snippp.PNG

During the summer months I ride my scooter everywhere. I have found that I get "steps" due to the bumpiness of the road. Also I get additional calories burned because the fitbit picks up the rpms of the engine and thinks its my hear rate. If you could add a feature where I could turn it off before I go somewhere and turn it on again after I get there that would be very helpful to me.

Agree. Need an automatic way to turn off Quick view. Ideally tracker should be able to detect you are sleeping (which it already does) and turn off Quick view. At least give this option to your customers.

I and my wife have been woken up several times due to disco lighting of Charge 2 - it turns on and off as my arm moves around in sleep.

Need this one. Brightness control is a must in today's 24*7 wearable world. This is a big nuisance when sleeping, when blinding light from an accidentally triggered Quick view wakes you up.

BobM2
Hill Runner

My suspicion is that the hardware doesn't support variable brightness. But a time-based night-mode, that turns off Quick View, would be handy.  So would the ability to turn Quick View on and off from the Fitbit, without needing the app, like you can do with notifications and alarms. Quick View has NOTHING to do with the app at all, unlike Alarms and Notifications, which must be tied to the app.

But part of the problem is that it does it even when Quick View is off.  I always have Quick View off now, and it still keeps happening to me while I'm sleeping and in theaters when I'm clapping.

@LMJones Are you sure Sync was completed after switching off Quick View from the app? (Indicator turned Green?) Works fine for me only after Sync is complete.

BobM2
Hill Runner

I have a similar problem to LMJones.  Quickview is definitely off, but there are still time when in bed that the screen comes on without my pressing the button or double tapping the screen. Raising my arm doesn't turn the screen on (as it does when QuickView is on), so I'm sure it's turned off, but something is still triggering the screen.

LMJones
First Steps

@DK3Yes, it's definitely off and synced.  I've checked for updates, and everything else I can think of.  It's really random, but some things do trigger it.  It may be my sleeve or sheets touching it.  I'm not sure.  Turning my arm doesn't do it like when Quick View is on.

I would like to see the tracker lights turn off when it is tracking sleep. The LED lights are very bright in the middle of the night and have woken me up numerous times. The LED feature should turn off when sleep is being tracked.

Please implement a 'do not disturb' mode for the Charge 2 (and all other products?). This has been requested for many months and is a significant irritation. The display should not turn on during hours that are set in the app, unless the button is pressed. This should not be difficult to implement. Feedback why this hadn't been done yet please Fitbit moderators.
