Turn off quick view when I'm sleeping (or at customizable times) aka 'Night Mode'

I love the quick view feature however when I'm sleeping I tend to wave my arms around which activates the display which sometimes wakes me up, especially if my wrist is close to my face.

My fitbit knows when I'm sleeping as it tracks my sleep so how about having the capability to disable quick view automatically whilst I'm sleeping, in fact don't even have it as a selectable option just don't trigger quick view when my fitbit knows I'm sleeping.

It would be nice to be able to use Quick View, but the process of changing the setting is too long & annoying to do twice a day.  I definitely can't sleep with it on.

Like you said, it occurs to me that my Fitbit knows when I'm sleeping so why not turn off Quick View and other disturbances automatically?  Duh.

LizFitbit,

No, dimming is definitely not enough to stop the Fitbit from waking me when it goes off at night.  Therefore, I don't use the Quick View feature even though I would like to during the day.

I see many posts about this problem, most requesting a way to schedule it.  The post you directed to is from 2015 & is Locked, yet we still have no solution.

Why not a Do Not Disturb schedule to disable Quick View, Notifications, & even taps that light up the screen?

Or better yet, my Fitbit knows when I'm sleeping so why not disable disturbances during sleep?

This issue has frustrated me since day 1.  I can't wear a sleep tracker that wakes me at night.

Seems there’s a common issue with this amongst fellow Fitbit wearers. Will have to stop wearing to bed if this isn’t resolved. My quick view is off yet when I move in the night it lights up and annoys my partner as well as myself to be honest. Surprised Fitbit can’t seem to fix this issue still.

Would like to see a feature that would restrict the display from turning on say at night unless you tap the Alta tracker. I find that a lot of times during the night I end up waking up from the display lighting up when moving around in bed. Would be nice to see the option to turn the display off and turn display back on. Kinda like a do not disturb setting only alarms would still go off the display would just not turn on as easy.

@Victoria_Peach as @mecrtp explained above the Ionic allready has a screen toggle off.

Swipe right to bring up the quick settings and turn quickview off

Completely agree and it could use the settings already implemented for the Sleep Goals to do this. Only recently realised what a huge battery drain this is, went from worst case of draining down to 0% in 36 hours to down to 25% in 7 days by turning off Quick View. I only check the screen a few times a day so I'm positive it's the pointless activation during the night.

Hi @mecrtp thanks for this suggestion. I understand your request is to automatically detect/guess when you are sleeping, but in case you didn't know as a workaround for now, you can disable quick view in your settings (and also change screen brightness to dim).

I'm going to suggest we streamline this discussion and add your votes and comments to this existing discussion which has established momentum:

Please implement this. My wife and I both disabled quick view because of disturbance during the night, but quick view is really useful during the day.

As a Fitbit Charge 2 user, I want to be able to specify times to disable quickview, so that it doesn't disturb my wife or I while we sleep.

The quickview function of the Fitbit Charge 2 is great, except for when it goes off when I am trying to sleep. As someone who tends to move around in my sleep, it's not uncommon for me to roll over and have it accidentally activate quickview. This causes disruption to my sleep as it makes me wake up because of the light. Having the ability to disable quickview during certain times would ensure that it doesn't go off when I am actually trying to sleep. If I really want to check the time I can rely on tapping or pressing the button on the side of the Fitbit.

I was thinking more along the lines of being able to set the times that you don't want the quick view to activate.  Set it and forget it kind of like an alarm clock ... it turns off at ten pm and turns on with the first alarm of the day.

Hey CMWG, I think we're talking about the same functionality. You would set the times that you don't want to use Quickview (like 10 pm to 7 am the next day) and during those hours it doesn't activate.

The light on the watch is awesome for day use, but if you are wearing it during the night to track your sleep, the light is too bright. It would be nice if there was a dimming feature for sleeping.

I don't even have "Quick View" on and my Fitbit goes on at least 3-4 times a night and lights up the room. Everytime I move pretty much and I don't know why (the sheets "tap" the watch or something??). it's WAY too sensitive. My Charge HR never did this. I hope something can be done about it!

Honestly Fitbit.
That can´t be that complicated to engineer, can it?
Please simply add night time switch and a dimming based on sunrise.....

I've had my quick view disabled for 2 months due to turning on at night. My tossing and turning seems to 'tap' the screen, so I STILL get bright light at night. 😞

So, I've disabled a handy feature, but my sleep shows plenty of toss & turn. How do I get rid of the light at night unless I push the button?

Sent from the little screen, please excuse any typos.

Amazing it still doesn't exist. Gear Fit2 has it, Garmin has it. Gee even my $20 Mi Band 2 has it.

Hi everyone, thanks for your comments. We have merged various versions of this feature suggestion for specific devices together here, so that we can streamline responses and discussion. I know this is a popular request, so watch this space for updates. Thanks for your patience.

There are many posts about this problem and several ideas as to how to fix it. And there are a lot of comments & votes for a solution, but they're spread out among many threads, and a lot of those have been locked by the moderators.

Many people find that their Charge 2 disturbs them at night during sleep if they have Quick View turned on, since it causes the screen to light up when you move your arm.

Yes, you can turn this feature off, but it requires digging down into the settings in your phone app to turn off, then syncing to your device - a long process that many are not willing to go through twice a day to have it off at night and on during the day.

Solutions can be as simple as being able to turn it off via the Charge 2 screen, like Notifications.

A much better solution is to have a Do Not Disturb feature that allows us to schedule days & times when we want the Charge 2 to disable Quick View & Notifications & the Tap to wake screen (which also lights the screen at night during movement).

And even better, since your Charge 2 knows when you are sleeping then why doesn't it automatically disable Quick View & Notifications & Tap during sleep?  After all, the point of wearing it at night is to monitor and hopefully improve sleep quality.  How absurd that it would disturb us at night.

Fitbit, please stop ignoring our concerns.  LizFitbit, I'm trying to get your attention because you locked those other threads on which you just commented to say we could still vote on this.

LizFitbit, the threads I'm referring to (that you just commented on, but they are now locked):

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Turn-off-quick-view-when-I-m-sleeping-or-at-cust...

And, of course, there are many more threads discussing the issue.  I appreciate that you've been working on consolidating them so that it's clearer how many voices have spoken about this.  I appreciate that you encourage us to continue to vote on it.  I just hope that FitBit adjusts the Charge 2 programming to fix this problem.  You said they added some kind of automatic feature to the Ionic, but that does us no good with our Charge 2s.  I'm not buying a new FitBit after only months of owning this one.  So please don't change the status of this thread to Released like the other thread.  It's not fixed.

Thank you

Katam, I personally am not a fan of Fitbit's Moderators or their help forums. I've used them about four times, all times it took at least 48 hours or longer for a moderator to answer my question and when they did it was as if they never read my question at all. The answer they gave me had very little to do with what I was asking. When I replied that I needed more clarification I was completely ignored for over a week until I reposted the conversation as a new post. I'm not sure if the moderator I always got always arrogantly ignored people after posting his answer assuming he was always correct the first time out or if he was posting then immediately marking it as solved without bothering to check if he actually solved the problem. I found dealing with them so annoying I now only ask questions in the apps regular community chat area or the live help chat area.

Good luck talking with them! 😉

I am new to Fitbit and I a loving it. I wear it day and night and have totally replaced my standard watches with this fitness tracker. However, the screen brightness is blinding at night either when I want to see the time or just when I move my wrist. Please Fitbit, enable a dimmable display for the sleep period. It is really blinding to see the display when you are in sleep mode. Really appreciate your support for my 2 devices. Thanks.

I often wondered why they don’t dim the screen like you said. It is pretty bright.

Agreed.  As I noted in the link below, it strikes me as just plain snotty to lock feature requests that have thousands (tens of thousands across all the various posts?) of upvotes with "We've solved this - just spend $300 on an entirely new device that has other characteristics (like size) that you don't want!  Cheerio!"

FitBit's answer to this is apparently that they have no intention of adding this feature even though thousands of users want it... but you can spend $300 on a new device that's 4 times the size of the one you've got.

I've found that they're usually pretty good about implementing feature requests, but they do occasionally offer us users the finger (as with Health Kit compatibility).
