Turn off quick view when I'm sleeping (or at customizable times) aka 'Night Mode'

I love the quick view feature however when I'm sleeping I tend to wave my arms around which activates the display which sometimes wakes me up, especially if my wrist is close to my face.

My fitbit knows when I'm sleeping as it tracks my sleep so how about having the capability to disable quick view automatically whilst I'm sleeping, in fact don't even have it as a selectable option just don't trigger quick view when my fitbit knows I'm sleeping.

They've heard this comment, and similar about notifications, thousands of times and just don't seem to care unless you want to shell out $300.

I edited the original post to include Tapping the screen to wake it.  As others have noted, often just moving around at night can register as a tap on the screen and wake it.  And unfortunately, this feature can't be turned off.  So, if I want my Charge 2 to monitor sleep, then I have to deal with the Tap To Wake waking me!

I wish I could vote on this multiple times. I have trouble sleeping and toss and turn a lot through the night. Having the watch light up every time can't be helping. A quick way to turn it off for movie theaters etc would be good too. I agree that it should, turn off while we are sleeping but it doesn't solve the time before I'm asleep and trying to get comfortable. Seems like a big oversight not being able to turn off the display light easily.

 I like this idea best:

"Solutions can be as simple as being able to turn it off via the Charge 2 screen, like Notifications."

Then while you're at it, I just today learned about the long-press on the clock screen to toggle Notifications.  Make that user-selectable, and I'll put QuickView toggle as my long-press action.  (Alarm toggle is another option for this user-selectable list).  They'd all still be available thru their own optional menu items, it's just that one is quicker to get to.

One way to do this would be to look at Android's or iOS's "Do not disturb" settings and copy that.

In the FitBit app, just have a checkbox that mimics it: "Turn off Quick View when Android/iOS is set to 'Do Not Disturb'".

That way, you don't have to manually turn it off (in case you forget) and it just does it automatically for you.

Or as other users have stated, when Fitbit detects that you are asleep, just turn off Quick View.

I fully agree with you. My ionic is very bright at night. Even wakes me up. There should be a way to disable the automatic turn on feature while sleeping and only turn the watch on when pushing a button.

Please, my wife will be grateful to you, Fitbit. Include it in your next firmware release.

My new Charge 2 wakes me up several times per night when I turn my wrist and it lights up in my face.  My current solution is to turn off quick view.  It would be a pain to turn it off and on each day, so I'm going to just leave it off.  This is also kind of a pain because now I have to push the button whenever I want to look at my screen.  It seems like the easiest solution would be to allow us to program our display to stay off while we are sleeping.  For example, I would program my display to stay off between 10 pm and 7 am.  We all have different hours, so could all set our sleep time with our individual sleep schedules.

GOOD IDEA !

If a device is capable of determining that I am asleep, then it could stop the turning on off the display automatically.
Or adding an ambient light sensor might help so it's not so blindingly bright at night.
But adding a 'display on' time setting should be easy to do.

Yes - I just joined the community specifically to make this very suggestion.  It drives me crazey that the display turns on while i am asleep.  My wife is threatening to take my Fitbit away, so this is a really serious problem for the device.  Please work on it!  The suggestion by Gyetton is great - the fitbit knows I'm asleep, so why would it wake me up with a bright light when i roll over?

Every time I turn over the app flashes and it wakes me up. If there was a switch where I could turn it off completely at night, or said it to very dim that would make it so that from today on I could wear it at night. As it is I need my sleep.

It would be awesome if the face of the Fitbit did not light up automatically during user selected hours when they lift their arm. Often at night when I roll over and rearrange in the bed, the Fitbit (I have an Alta HR) lights up brightly with the time and it catches my eye with a bright light (for that time of night) and sometimes knowing the time interrupts my sleep (YAY-3 more hours...BOO only 30 minutes, is it even worth it to go back to sleep). Like my phone, can we have the Fitbit set so that it doesn't light up unless tapped during these hours?

Please give me the ability to set a "do not disturb" time frame. This would keep my wrist from lighting up and vibrating at night (excluding any alarms). As of now, either I have to manually turn off quick view every night and turn it back on in the AM, or wake myself and my spouse up with a bright light everytime I move.

Even though I have quick view turned off, it randomly comes on. This is a problem in the night when I'm sleeping. I suggest an on/off user set time frame for quick view. E.g. off at 10 pm and on at 8 am. Having to turn it on every morning and then turn it off every night is tedious so I just leave it off all the time which . However as I mentioned it randomly comes on even though it's set to off.

In my post that I linked to above, Rich Laue offered a solution I didn't know about that works:

Both the Charge 2 and Blaze currently have a DND mode.

With the charge 2, since the second firmware, simply hold in the button while viewing the watch.

With the Blaze, since released, swipe down while viewing the watch and turn of notifications.. Holding in the top right button will get you to the same screen.

Please add a start and stop time option for the quick view setting. I need it to be off when I’m sleeping.

It would be helpful to be able to note you're going to sleep and to have the devices dim themselves/not have the face turn on. Would still want to be able to track sleep and HR though, so just not having the display show (not completely turning the device off).

My husband and I both have Fitbits. We end up blinding each other so many times at night when one of us moves our arms and the whole room lights up from the face turning on. Maybe add it as a feature on the app or as something you can select when pressing the side button on the Charge 2.

Your Ionic @vreamers already has this. Swipe right and turn sleep wake to manual.

Yes!!!! I agree. I feel like this would be an “easy” solution for programmers, as the fact isn’t dimmable (which seems to me) that it would be hardware fix?  It would be so great if we could set it to “night mode” or “do not disturb” at night time.

We need something to dim the light at night. Constantly wakes me up at night from the very bright light. Please incorporate some sort of night mode or a way to dim the brightness

Dear Fitbit, i love my alta hr, but please update the software to include an option for turning off the quickview screen while sleeping! Thanks!
