Turn off quick view when I'm sleeping (or at customizable times) aka 'Night Mode'

I love the quick view feature however when I'm sleeping I tend to wave my arms around which activates the display which sometimes wakes me up, especially if my wrist is close to my face.

My fitbit knows when I'm sleeping as it tracks my sleep so how about having the capability to disable quick view automatically whilst I'm sleeping, in fact don't even have it as a selectable option just don't trigger quick view when my fitbit knows I'm sleeping.

I totally agree!  I do not like when the lighting come on to my eyes when I  move around while sleeping..  Please create a timer for Quick View.. I am sure many people would love the idea.

I’m literally awake hours early because of this right now. It doesn’t happen every night but often enough to be an issue for someone with sleep problems already

Same here. One reason I got the Fitbit was to monitor my sleep to help
improve it. Even with Quick View turned off, it still wakes me - I assume
it's the screen tap that lights it up.

That's why I consider this issue a bug fix and not a feature request. They
sold us a sleep monitor that wakes people, and they think we're being
frivolous to ask for a fix!

Hi everyone thanks for sharing this suggestion. This is being discussed although I do not have a firm commitment or timeline at the moment. Do continue to vote for this feature suggestion whilst it’s under consideration. Please note that if this feature is developed it will be for Ionic and future devices.

Please note that if something is under consideration and chosen for development, it can be a while until it's released or until I have any news to share. Please watch this space for any updates! Thanks for your patience.

Why is that? I have a Charge 2 which constantly wakes up my girlfriend because it thinks that I am doubletapping it.

Why is this not updated on the Charge 2 (which btw is still listed on fitbit.com - so for me it doesn't look outdated).

This is pretty underwhelming.

So basically, thanks for the idea which our “experts” didn’t think of in the fort place and we’ll only put that development out to our top end device and ignore everyone else who doesn’t have £300 to burn on a watch...

That’s really poor and really making me consider moving to another device...

Disappointed!

We’ve requested this for years, you’ve finally taken it “ under consideration”, but only possibly for the Ionic (or probably five versions past that, by the time you get around to it). Gee thanks, from all your buyers of previous versions. All we want is an option to set times during which the feature doesn’t light up on movement. It’s not that hard, and it would make so many people happy!

Wow, great job alienating a huge portion of your user base? We own two Blazes, which were the "top of the line" until the Ionic, and still an expensive device that you've recommended/marketed for sleep tracking. It's not like the firmware can't still be updated on all these devices, and I have no idea why such a small feature has taken so long (as someone whowho wo with game code, I can't imagine it being a difficult implementation unless the source for Fitbit devices is ludicrous.)

I was considering an Aria 2 to replace my other brand smart scale, along with potentially 2 Ionics once this ISSUE is FIXED. But I think I will be skipping out unless I see Fitbit starting to treat its users right.

Thanks, once again for saving us about $750 for all those Fitbit brand devices we won't be getting.

Don't think that I will be buying another fitbit!  I do like my Charge 2, but the fact that they won't incorporate the sleep feature is really poor.  If I buy an ionic, and an ionic 2 comes out, they will just stop supporting the ionic, so I'm not going to consider that either.  In my view, if they are still selling the model, then they should support it.

Oh, so despite these countless comments we won't see the benefit of it
unless we all splash out for a new device... Very disappointing Fitbit.

The moderator's last update is extremely disappointing and does make me question whether or not I will continue to be a Fitbit user in the future.  I like their devices but this thread really irks me to no end.  It was submitted almost 3 years ago with over 5,000 people in agreement and we only hear now that it might be included in a newer watch.  As others have said, I think of this as a bug that needs to be fixed, not a new feature or improvement.  A watch that is billed for helping track your sleep should not interrupt your sleep at the same time.  Who tested this thing?  I can't imagine that with all this watch can do that it's that difficult to program an additional panel in the app to set when you don't want the screen to be active.  I agree with the others that it doesn't seem like Fitbit is listening to their current customers.  They are too busy creating new models to bother with the older ones.  Their stock has been suffering as of late and one way to keep that trend going is to stop listening to your customers.

Liz, if what you say is true, this is beyond pathetic, and I can only assume you know this because it took so Long to move this to "Under Consideration".

I will give you (Liz) the benefit of the doubt for now. Assuming that you are not actually apart of the FitBit Programming or Marketing teams. I actually question if you work for FitBit, because if you did, If i were you I'd be PISSED OFF that they have your hands tied and that you are frankly just about useless to the community.

This is not a Recall Fitbit, No one it itching because of a stupid wrist band. It's a Programming SOFT fix. If your programmers can make your watch say "IT'S STEPPING TIME" during the requested Hours, it's not a unreasonable to have them do the EXACT same thing for Quick View.

The Fact that this is Marketed as a sleeping aid, should have your Marketing team Reaming out your programmers to have this fixed ASAP.

The Fact that this product is Still for sale. It is considered NEW and Current. And you should treat all your customers fairly. What you have stated here is that FitBit has made enough off its current user base and doesn't care. Fitbit might be at the top in it's category, but it ain't no Apple so get off your high horse. I've been looking for a reason to buy the better GARMIN products. This attitude is easily enough to sway me.

BTW, Why else would you have Firmware update capabilities? They've made them in the past. What's changed?

I want Liz or any FitBit Representative to come back soon and corrects Liz's statement about Charge 2 watches being obsolete. and that those that wear them no longer matter.

Please for the love of all things give a blackout feature in your devices. The sleep monitoring is important to me and by the looks of it many others however for stomach sleepers like myself that move a bit while sleeping, disabling gestures does not do it as I still seem to tap or hit the button on the ionic or charge 2 and this results in a very bright screen illumination that wakes me up. Unfortunately that is a fail for me and I have returned both devices, Should this feature be implemented I would be a happy fitbit customer. Take for example, Virgin Pulse Max Buzz, it allows you to set a dormant or sleep period where the screen will not turn on unless there are multiple taps made to the screen. This is exactly what would make your product a win for me and so many others as I have seen on the forums.

Wow. I can't believe this actually came from someone from Customer Care. Basically, for such a darned simple feature you're telling thousands of your customers "thanks for the idea suckers, but nah, you'll have to buy another device of ours". I really can't believe it. Not even an explanation why it's not possible to implement in other devices, like my Charge 2 which is not exactly cheap.

So, so disappointed.

Fitbit, how can you sell a sleep tracker that wakes its users??

This isn't "gee, I sure wish it could do this."  This is a BUG.  It causes users a problem and interferes with one of the core functions you advertised it would do for us.

Complaints about this bug have been around for longer than the Charge 2 version, so you blithely ignored the issue while developing it.  And gladly sold it to us, and continue to sell it now, with no intention of fixing it??

People have tossed out plenty of suggestions for a fix, from the complex to the simple.   Why not simply add a Screen Inactive option to the device's menu items for stopping Tap to wake & Quick View & other alerts?  This will at least give us a way to turn it off ourselves.

This is what updates are for - fixing bugs.  If you can't support your products then you'll lose customers.  Clearly you've already lost some by ignoring us.

I would love a software update for the charge 2 so that it doesn't automatically light up at night unless I specifically press the side button.

moosecat

Mheym, You are more likely to be hitting the "double tap to wake" feature,
not the buttons. It's movement based, so tapping the screen or sides of the
device set it off, even when "quick view" is off.

I would like the opposite...keep the screen off unless I press the
button...maybe double press if people are having issues with accidentally
hitting the buttons (but that's just not my experience).

The system recognised your sleeping- it should stay off or dim significantly

It is surprising that the sleep schedule setting doesn't tie to a toggle switch for this behavior already.  This seems like a simple update that would be a huge win for those of us who'd like to see the time during the day, but not blind our spouse during the night!

I can only pile on what the others said. Only fixing this issue for new devices is underwhelming. Please consider bringing this fix for all devices which are capable to adopt it from a hardware standpoint.

I understand if due to hardware limitations screen dimming wouldn't be possible, but man it seems really strange to me that tap to wake can't be disabled while the fitbit detects that the wearer is asleep. And for any future updates to only be for Ionic and later? That's a huge bummer, and I expected more from you guys!

Don’t think they care at all. Have you seen any post from Fitbit? Bad customer relations. Just acknowledge at least!
