Turn off quick view when I'm sleeping (or at customizable times) aka 'Night Mode'

I love the quick view feature however when I'm sleeping I tend to wave my arms around which activates the display which sometimes wakes me up, especially if my wrist is close to my face.

My fitbit knows when I'm sleeping as it tracks my sleep so how about having the capability to disable quick view automatically whilst I'm sleeping, in fact don't even have it as a selectable option just don't trigger quick view when my fitbit knows I'm sleeping.

I've been thinking about this, I'm so glad it's already posted! When I shift positions at night my watch often lights up and wakes up both me and my partner. It's made me somewhat unpopular... I do keep the watch turned to dim at all times, but in the pitch black it's still very bright, so it mostly means it's just not-quite-as-blinding at night, and difficult to see during the day. I have tried turning the flick to wake thing off but it's very irritating the next day when I forget it's turned off.

I think this consideration process is very frustrating. I just got my charge 2 and after one night I am wondering if I need to stop wearing it.  One of the main reasons I have my Fitbit is to track my sleep but in one night with quick view off my tracker lit up five times. I ended up focusing more on hiding my arm so it wouldn’t wake my husband and had one of the worst sleeps ever. I hate the tap to turn on function anyways so if that is why this is happening either a night mode or turning that off would make so much sense. There is clearly a strong desire for this among users and I hope this can be quickly addressed. It’s beyond frustrating.

I totally agree, I too bought charge 2 to to monitor my sleep and totally frustrated with being woken up several times during the night. I have resorted to cutting the end off a black sock and wearing that at night to cover the watch. Fitbit are a disgrace - they could resolve this if they chose to.

Please add a sleep mode which allows the user to turn off the display during certain hours. The bright screen wakes both me and my husband up at night when rolling over, etc. Also, the fitbit knows when you are sleeping, so couldn't it just do this automatically??

Please note that if this feature is developed it will be for Ionic and future devices.
THIS IS PATHETIC!!! The Charge 2 is a current device, and this is hardly a difficult task, I can already set when the 'walk 250 steps an hour' notification happens so, why can't you add a don't 'blind me if it's dark', timer, FOR ALL CURRENT MODELS!

Well they don’t deserve for people to buy future models !

They have seriously damaged their reputation by ignoring the need to alter this serious flaw !

@BobTheCatFitbit moderators already made it clear in this forum that they won't be fixing this for the Charge 2, even though it's a current device.  You might want to consider returning it before the return window ends.

@gyettonWhy not?  Because they already have our money.

I was looking at the Vivoactive 3 to compare and it looks like Garmin has figured this out already. The have a Do Not Disturb option where you can set the time frame (like sleep time) or just turn it on, if your at a movie theatre or need a nap.

It's a little more expensive than the Versa, but very comparable. If i like a product, when i go to replace it, I usually move up model. Versa was on my list. But based on this alone, when my Charge 2 dies, it looks like Garmin might be taking my money.

Anyone here a Garmin user?  Pro's Cons?

Frankly when I’m in bed with the light off I usually have my eyes closed.

Keep your eyes closed when you’re in bed with the lights out. But that’s no reason for a company to ignore its customers.

@Dickf Frankly eyelids don't block out all light and the watch is bright enough to disturb light sleepers. Even the little light on a nest camera, or lights on various other electronics, can disturb me (luckily I can turn off the camera light, but have to resort to electrical tape on other things)

Just because you can "close your eyes" to avoid the problem, doesn't mean that works for everyone.

Eyes are closed! ... we are asleep ! The light from the watch wakes us up .... this is the whole point. A light on in a room however small would wake most people up ... so if you are a light sleeper (hence monitoring your sleep pattern with Fitbit watch) you have no chance.

@LizFitbit @JonFitbit anyone of the team should review this feature again. This is a critical feature for every sleep tracker because the display wakes me up at night and kills the battery life - my girlfriend is not amused, too.

Yes please - this would be great for the Versa.

I sold my FitBit Charge 2  because of this issue and went back to using my old little Flex, which is on its last leg.  Is anyone aware of whether the Alta HR has the blinding light issue in the night like the Charge 2.  Looking to see if the Alta is the same or has a convenient way to turn it down or off at night while still tracking sleep?  This is a deal breaker for me, as the Charge 2 woke both my husband and me, utterly defeating my efforts to getting a good night's sleep!

I gave up in the end and threw the Charge 2 in the drawer. I know I can turn off quick-view, but is a pain when you need to quickly see the time and don't have both hands free. Shame they just kick their heels and don't respond to customer requests.

Count me as an ex-customer.

@Debboo My husband's Alta HR has the exact same issue as my Charge 2.

I have quick view turned off at night, but of course that doesn't stop it coming on when you brush it against the covers.

My husband turns his round so it's on the inside of his wrist, which seems to help.

+1 for this feature request.  I would like to be able to control the time range, have my FitBit detect I'm sleeping, or some combination.  Thanks!

Its pretty obvious FB is no longer developing for this device. I guess I keep my eyes closed when I’m in bed at night.

This is exactly what my husband and I need. It drives us crazy with how often the fitbit lights up the whole room when we are trying to sleep.

I have a charge 2. Quick view is all well and good during the day, but it does wake me and my partner up at night as the screen brightness is so bright it does light up the bedroom.

If there could be a feature to turn the screen off overnight or even a nightmode so the screen is dimmed right down at night via the user that would be brill.

My last smart watch with another company I just had to tap the sleep tab on the screen to set the watch into sleep mode so the screen didn't turn on over night (just had to remember to switch it off in the morning)

I got so fed-up with the light coming on at night I threw my Charge 2 into the drawer.

I had a little think about it and designed a 3D printed cover that you can simply clip on at night and remove in the morning. I know this is a workaround and FitBit should resolve the issue, but it works for me.

I have uploaded the 3D file to Thingiverse so that anybody that wants it can have it.

Print it out in black ABS and get some sleep 🙂
