Turn off quick view when I'm sleeping (or at customizable times) aka 'Night Mode'

I love the quick view feature however when I'm sleeping I tend to wave my arms around which activates the display which sometimes wakes me up, especially if my wrist is close to my face.

My fitbit knows when I'm sleeping as it tracks my sleep so how about having the capability to disable quick view automatically whilst I'm sleeping, in fact don't even have it as a selectable option just don't trigger quick view when my fitbit knows I'm sleeping.

Unfortunately, I completely agree with you @katam The Support in FitBit is brilliant, but the aftercare / support of older devices is shocking.

I want the ionic (as I used to have a pebble) but can't justify the cost.

Can we call this new functionality "Sexy time mode" I mean, here we are, it's dark and the juices start flowin...I start makin moves and it's starting to look good and then BAM!!! Interrogation level  brightness from the fitbit shut down the operation! Game over....

I mean, this should be a very simple design addition. At minimum, please add a schedule brightness levels for day/night. Ideally, future releases will have ambient light sensor for automatic brightness adjustment.

brightness levels based on sleep stages is a good idea, but wouldnt solve the issue of it being far too bright in dark places when you're awake, even when the good times are about to roll.

Thanks for your consideration and please add to Charge 2 and 3! Thank you!

Does anyone know if/how this bug has been addressed in Charge 3? The display is said to be different, so maybe something has been done?

(I know it doesn’t address the case of our current Charges, but maybe, at least, ...?)

Actually Martka.pl, i just got the Charge 3 and they have two things to address this:

1. You can disable screen wake which disables the feature that turns on the face when you move your wrist. You have to tap on the screen or hit the side button to wake it up, which is obviously a lot harder to do. The function is easily accessed by long pressing the side button and tapping the option to disable. Pretty easy.

2. They give a "auto" option for the brightness which "should" dim in dark conditions. However, i havent noticed if it actually works. I've had it for less than 24 hours so, we'll see. For me, i'll be disabling screen wake before i go to bed.

Dear Phorts, thanks so much! I wonder why the option #1 has not been implemented in Charge 2. Looks like some software update to me, not something that need to be replaced physically... eh, well 😉

Good luck with your Charge 3 and enjoy your dark nights! 😉

@martka.pl and @phorts this is the same as being able to turn off "quick view" on older devices. I can do this on my Blaze (though the option to turn on and off is less convenient). Unfortunately this still leaves tap to wake on, which is a lot easier to accidentally activate than you'd think (at least on the Blaze, tapping the screen OR sides of the device activate it, so you can hit would wrist on something and it feels the "tap"...not sure if also the case on charge 3)

There is also an "auto" setting for brightness. It works but...it stupidly doesn't remember the last brightness it was on. It always lights up at full brightness THEN asjusts to dim. Pretty useless lol. Hope this has been fixed in newer devices.

Umm... thanks, Moosecat. Why can’t it just be easy....? 😞

....I tried to come up with something more on the topic, but everything has already been said in thousands of messages in this thread, summing up to „please, don’t wake us up in the middle of the night!!!”.

I'm with @moosecat on this.  I've had Quick View turned off since shortly after buying my Charge 2, 17 months ago, yet Tap To Wake still lights up my room at night.  It's good that they made it easier to turn off Quick View in the new model (and I'd use this feature if mine were updated - hint, hint!), but they neglected to truly solve the problem of lighting up at night. 😞

I’d ad a big thumbs up to this idea. During sleep accidental rubs and touches will constantly turn on the screen. And although this may not wake you up, it will drain the battery, and more importantly could even adjust certain settings on the watch!!

Just wondering if there could be a setting to have quick view working in the day but not at night, sometimes I wake up and turn over which can set off the quick view. The light from my fitbit seems very bright in the night when everything else is dark! Maybe not the most helpful for sleep. The quick view is a great thing though.

So many votes for such a simple request and still not implemented.

I completely agree that the "quick view" should be disabled during the night. It is very not convenient that the screen lights up and flashes at me or my partner when I turn in my bed. It may be difficult to automatically find when one sleeps (as said by Fitbit, they start to tracket sleep after three hours), but at least one should be able in the parameter screen to set hours where the quick view is disabled.

I have Quick View disabled all the time, and yet the Fitbit still manages to come on whilst I'm trying to sleep (must be thrashing around a lot to count as a "double-tap" lol) I would love it for the Fitbit to "sleep" during my programmed bedtime hours and to become active only on button-press during this time. That would be perfect!Smiley Wink

Please add this feather. I don't want to turn off auto wake every night before I sleep.

While the fitbit detects that you are sleeping, have the option to prevent the screen from coming on inadvertently.  While sleeping, disable the wrist flick but still allow the user to double tap to awaken the screen.

Add-on to this suggestion: Have this option be one click on the quick-set menu that also sets the display to dim (or very dim).

Can't believe that such a simple and logical feature hasn't been implemented, four years after this suggestion was submitted to this forum. I really don't want to see any bright light at night, especially nothing white or blue. Fitbit says they're committed to good sleeping habits, but they don't show it here....

Hi, new fitbit user with a Charge 3 I've had for less than two weeks. Why, with so much demand, is this only be considered for future products? I just joined the fitbit community by buying the newest device you make and it's keeping my partner up at night. Seems like adding a do not disturb or sleep mode would be a firmware update. Is fitbit not committed to serving its customers? Does it only care about trying to force them to buy the next device?

I have the Fitbit Ionic and sleep with it every night. My partner complains about how the screen illuminates even with slight movements as we are trying to fall asleep. It’s quite bright in a dark room even at automatically adjusted lowest brightness. I rarely intend to view the time/my stats as I’m trying to fall asleep, so I propose a nighttime mode. Once toggled on (right before bed for example), the screen won’t become illuminated by wrist movements but rather would require a screen double tap or function button press. This mode could be set to expire at a fixed or variable time. Thanks!

So years ago my first Charge HR had the ability to turn on/off whether or not the time displayed when you turned your wrist (instead of having to push the button). It seems the Ace always has this on. My daughter never wants to wear it to bed because the bright light wakes her up when she moves her arm.  Can’t this be added? (Or educate me if I’m missing something.)

Better name: Theatre or Sleep mode. Need it when in a movie or live theatre too.
