Turn off quick view when I'm sleeping (or at customizable times) aka 'Night Mode'

I love the quick view feature however when I'm sleeping I tend to wave my arms around which activates the display which sometimes wakes me up, especially if my wrist is close to my face.

My fitbit knows when I'm sleeping as it tracks my sleep so how about having the capability to disable quick view automatically whilst I'm sleeping, in fact don't even have it as a selectable option just don't trigger quick view when my fitbit knows I'm sleeping.

I would like to be able to simply disable the double-tap-function completly on my charge2. That would be enough for me.

Switching on the device by pressing the button (and then tabbing through the menus) would be absolutly okay for me.

Just a simple switch like the one for disabling the quick-view-function.

Come on Fitbit - that must be possible. Show some love to your existing customers!

PS: To make this clear: In my opinion this is NOT a "new feature request". This is a BUGFIX. Or a workaround for an annoying problem. It cannot be okay that this thing randomly lights up at night when moving around while sleeping. No one is double-tapping this thing while asleep! So this is obviously a BUG in the double-tap-engine (or in the sensor which controls this function). Helping us out with a way to disbale it (if you are not able to fix it because it may be a hardware problem) would be a workaround. Nothing more. Thanks for listening.

PPS: Some sort of reply from fitbit would be nice!

Also agree - my wife would be very grateful for this feature.  Many times I have moved in my sleep, the quick view light comes on and wakes her, which then wakes me from her startled reaction!

Even if it was time-based, it would be very welcome feature addition indeed.

I'd like to see the ability for me to turn off quick view for a set amount of time, say 11pm-6am. When I move in my sleep the watch lights up a lot and is rather annoying. I use quick view all the time during the day but would like to have it disabled during my sleeping hours.

@LizFitbit

It is simply outrageous that no improvement should be made for products like Charge 2 that are still actively sold!

Especially for a feature with (currently) 5,395 votes!

 Very Well put BuffaloSeven

Well, with the latest response that if the feature is ever actually addressed, it will only be for their new devices, despite this being one of the most frequent requests for the Charge 2, I'm sad to say I'm walking away from Fitbit. This is a terrible way to treat customers who have been asking for a very simple feature for a long, long time now. I've replaced my Charge 2 with an Apple Watch and have put the Fitbit up for sale.

I'll miss Fitbit a tad, but with the generally poor build quality, the way they've ignored their customer base, and the way they lock up your health data, I don't see a choice right now. I'll keep an eye on the company and see if they can turn it around, but if they don't start doing a better job listening to customers, I doubt I'll be the only one taking this course of action.

All the best Fitbit; hope you figure things out and get your priorities in order.

Couldn't agree more.

The watch lights up when I move in my sleep waking me up .... several times. Is there a way to stop this from lighting up as my wrist turns when in bed and restless ?

What is the point of having a suggestion area in your forum if you don't want to apply any changes to current products?

Great way to get ideas for future product range, but totally useless for customers that have already purchased a product.

Guess I should buy you next generation +2 version now so that it will do what was needed for the last generation..

Not a good way to retain customers!

I would also like this feature, since it bugs me a lot to always manually disable quickview in the settings. But instead of crying,  everybody better should tell Fitbit, that one is not going to buy a new device from the company ever again, if they do not fix this bug. They call the device fitness tracker and wake you up while asleep. This is nuts and has to be solved.

Take a look at Fitbit's Stock Value! If they do not listen to their customers they're already dead! Everybody does better hardware cheaper than they do. It's the software that rocks the devices. So they should  better get their act together and fix this!!!

Since there is already a setting in the app to turn quick view on or off, I really don't see how hard it can be to add a setting to choose the hours when it is on or off.  A simple bit of coding and they could make the majority of their loyal customers happy.

For me personally, I just turn it on and off each morning and night. It works fine with my set up, but I know that doesn't work for others.

But, one thing my husband does that seems to help, it to turn the tracker so the clock face is on the inside of his wrist.  While it probably won't stop it being triggered by wiping it across the covers (simulating a double tap), it seems to stop/reduce it being triggered by his arm movements. Maybe worth a try?

Wow, I'm new to using a Fitbit and have had this issue a few times this week and it's sad to come to these forums and see people have been having it for years and FitBit isn't doing anything about it. That's pretty terrible customer service. I have a Charge 2 HR and have DND on at nights with custom features (ie. phone calls and texts from favorites only). None favorite notifications are still pushing through at all hours, even though my phone isn't going off. That's terrible! And like someone said previously, it's not a HUGE fix at all, include it in your next update, make your customers happy and be done with it. Simple. Telling me to remember to turn off a feature every night, for as long as we own the FitBit seems like a lot more hassle than us requesting you spend an hour or two coding the software to do what the phone is doing, or to have a DND feature on the Fit Bit as well.

Sorry my previous post seems slightly off topic - I got here from a link in the thread that talked about the notifications - but the Quick View is also super annoying, and goes along with the notifications that should be disabled with DND. I rolled over and 2 in the morning and my FitBit lit up and my husband yelled "what in the world is that?!" thinking someone had a flashlight in the room!

I really need this feature implemented soon. I love my new Fitbit Alta but the Quick View option needs to auto disable during sleeping hours.

This is nothing more than a product issue.

why should the light turn on during sleep? Why notifications during sleep?

This has nothing to do with a „new feature“. It is a bug.

And fitbit will only fix it for new products?

Here's hoping your team can find it in their hearts to fix All models, not just New, but Current Models.

The lighting up at night every time I move will be what makes me get rid of my FitBit. I only bought it because I thought the sleep tracking would be better than an iWatch. This is very poor.

Holy Heck! This suggestion has been open since 2015 and Fitbit cannot make a fix for it? Wow! Hey Fitbit please see this study: https://academic.oup.com/aje/article-abstract/187/3/427/4056592?redirectedFrom=fulltext so since the screen switches on while we sleep you are helping us get to a more depressive state. So much for caring about the health of people who are buying your devices. If this post comes across a bit strong it is because it is unacceptable that the Fitbit team cannot or will not resolve this issue.

Here is a suggestion to fix the issue. If I have set a sleep schedule on my Fitbit then the Fitbit should adhere to the schedule and respect it as a Do not Disturb function and not switch the screen on.

So...new Fitbit Versa. Looks like a replacement of the Blaze. This fixed yet, along with turning off Tap to Wake? I sure hope so.

This „Feature“ was submitted on 07-06-2015.

many Moderators commented. Nothing happened.

so, if Fitbit wanted to fix this ERROR (Not feature), they could have done it already.

That fixing an error needs to be submitted, is sad. But that the fix is delayed for over to years and now only is „under concideration“, after an other mod said it would not be planned? This so poor. Fitbit just continous its stalling tactics.

Agreed, there should be a night mode which will disable the screen turning on unless the side button is clicked (disabling screen turn on by rotating/tapping during the predefined hours). The lack of this feature is already annoying enough in Charge 2, and as a light sleeper who is interested in sleep tracking it will 100% determine whether I buy the Versa or not.

I agree with other posters it’s a little ridiculous this feature was requested 3 years ago and it’s been popular but it’s just under consideration.

I too am blinded by the light when I move in my sleep. For now, I’ve just turned quick view off. Having a periodic blinding light in my face is not conducive to healthy sleep. I’d like to see an automatic turn off feature for certain times or like another poster suggested, syncing with sleep schedule.

My first Charge HR wasn’t as bad because the smaller screen wasn’t as bright, but the screen on the Charge 2 is enough larger, it’s annoying.

This is my first time looking through the request forum but I’m kind of surprised by the reoccurring “we’re looking into it” or “the code/feature implementation really isn’t that simple” comments from FitBit moderators. It just leads me to believe FitBit 1) doesn’t have a progressive attitude and 2) is concerned more with what they want to do and sticking to their development roadmap rather than really listening to customers. Although kudos for the features you have added in the last theee years. But there are a lot of different products on the market so who cares if FitBit can’t keep up, I just won’t buy another FitBit.

My Fitbit knows when I'm asleep so why would it turn the display on when I roll over or make a motion similar to raising my wrist to check the time?

"Raise to wake" should be disabled (or have the option to be disabled) while I'm sleeping. This could either be during a set time frame "Disable raise to wake during weeknights 11pm - 5am" or intelligently based on my sleeping patterns and heart rate.

I should still be able to check the time by pressing the side button but this would prevent accidental activation, lighting up the room and disturbing my sleep if I have my wrist near my face when this is triggered.

Why put a forum online that gives us the opportunity to suggest improvements on a product, only to find we are actually giving you a new spec for a future product. The idea of firmware in a product is to allow modifications and if enough people want one, surely you should implement it in a "current" product??

I am a technical manager in a controls company that utilises firmware in its products. When we have reports of bugs or improvement suggestions the programmer will update the software and then it is rolled out to the "Current" product range. This is normal practice.

You have the platform and programmers, so why are you resistant to making a simple software change that will help you retain customers? If I don't see this simple change applied to the charge 2 product you can rest assured that I am an ex-customer and will never buy one of your products again. I guess I am not the only one??
