Turn off quick view when I'm sleeping (or at customizable times) aka 'Night Mode'

I love the quick view feature however when I'm sleeping I tend to wave my arms around which activates the display which sometimes wakes me up, especially if my wrist is close to my face.

My fitbit knows when I'm sleeping as it tracks my sleep so how about having the capability to disable quick view automatically whilst I'm sleeping, in fact don't even have it as a selectable option just don't trigger quick view when my fitbit knows I'm sleeping.

@Mikeston: Thank you so much for your work creating that 3D cover.

I had it printed by a service provider. Works perfect.

Now I can turn quickview on again.

Special thanks also from my wife Smiley Wink

Shame on you Fitbit that the customer is ignored and must choose such actions!

I am fresh from apple watch series 2, please please please dont make me regret my move to fitbit and go back to my apple watch, fix it that its 'easy' to switch to 'night' mode (and also recommended by the alarm), as well as cinema mode, who the heck wants to have to remember to switch the quick view mode on and off all the **ahem** time 😞

I just had a really simple request for something that I think would be a really convenient feature. I find myself having screen wake being on auto all day but always end up turning it to manual when I got to bed. Too often I'll be rolling over in my sleep and I get that bright light shining in my face. Essentially I think it would be nice to incorporate a system where the screen wake automatically goes to manual from 11 pm to 7:00 am, and then back to auto, or however the user decides. The user could set the times they prefer and whether they want this feature on or not.

It's a small request, but I think it could be appreciated by many.

Hi Thomas,

Glad you are enjoying the cover. I am getting sleep no I am not worried about the blinding light in the middle of the night.

Can I use your photo as part of my portfolio of work done?

Cheers,

Mike

The irony in getting this infobite... The Fitbit light is the only culprit of extra light at night in my life...

Yes totally agree with all these comments.  I would prefer to have the screen turn on manually during certain times of the day/overnight.  Thanks.

Please implement a time based nighttime mode to disable quick view notifications. Ie  10pm to 6am disable window..

Or seriously dim it

Or change layout to provide less info and less light

Agree. Was looking for a way to disable quick view automatically but there is no means to do this

Our little kid has bad nights from time to time and then it's normal that we have to sit with him for a bit or do something to calm him. At those times it's very bad when the Fitbit shines very bright due to arm rotation, be it that the room lights up or it even shines in his face. At other times when I have my hand in front of me and turn at night, it too can shine very bright right in front of my face from time to time. Given that I'm used to light sleep, this light can be enough wake me up completely. This discourages using the Fitbit as a night tracker (I have the Charge 2).

Suggestion:
Why don't you change the firmware to implement a night-mode with the following options:

The Fitbit knows when I am lying down to sleep. It can "guestimate" the beginning and knows pretty well when I'm out for real. From that point on for sure keep the light very dimmed (e.g. 10% of normal) or don't turn the screen on with arm rotation / acceleration, but instead only with button-push.

When to turn the night mode off:

Option A) when the sun rises. You have the date online and during a sync you can send the info to the fitbit.
Option B) when the person is about to get up (e.g. 6 am) in general .. make it part of the wake-up routine.
Option C) hand set the value or allow in the settings to adjust the values for Options A or B.

This would take care of the unwanted bright light in front of a user's face or a kid the user has.

Cheers!

Quick View wakes me up when I sleep but I love Quick View during the day.

Please create a function where I can set Start/end times (simalar to Reminder to move) for Quick View or add Quick View to Sleep times .

@Mikeston:  I had your cover printed by a 3D service provider too.  It fits perfectly, easy to put on but doesn't fall off, and blocks ALL the light.

I'm sure I'll use it at movies, too.  I don't have to go thru the nightly/morningly routine of turning Quickview off and on any more.

Thank you from another person for creating this and making it freely available.  (Now Fitbit can't patent it!)

Dear Fitbit team - this issue has been bugging the outspoken Fitbit Community for OVER A YEAR by now. I'm sure there's a silent group of users who simply don't like to comment in a forum, and those are moving to buy devices from the competition if you don't add a simple DIM AT NIGHT feature.

It's not such a complicated firmware update. Come-on! Stop trying to *only* sell new devices without fixing current ones you should be continuing to support. Else I'm not likely to buy a new fancier Fitbit in a year if I know you don't care about keeping bugs in the "old" ones fixed. That aside, my Charge 2 is not old, so fix your devices' life cycle support finally please.

Edit:  it's been bugging users for almost THREE years now. Time to fix it? Fixbit?  😉

@PineDK

That's exactly what I suggest. it would likely take a programmer a day or two to make that. and it would likely take just few KB of space on the watch. I don't know where they get off.  The feature basically already exists.

@Dickf

I'm guessing your keep saying that with sarcasm to get people even more aggravated with FitBit? There is no need to step to their level of ignorance. We're better than that.

I'll add another request for this feature. It bugs both my wife and I to no end at night. I use the quick view feature all the time during the day, but it seems silly that we can't set a window where it's not active. I'm not too hopeful given we're going in three years now with this request, but ... Perhaps they will listen to 40 pages of requests and 5.7k+ likes?

Hi,

My versa screen is too sensitive even on the manual setting.

Whenever I move the watch on my wrist (ie, fidgeting) the screen turns on. It is especially problematic at night - when the screen turns on by itself the light disturbs my sleep. Is there a "sleep mode" or something like "do not distthat I can turn on before I go to sleep and turn off manually when I wake up? This way no matter how much I move at night the watch will stay off unless I press the left button?

I think FitBit have forgotten about old devices. i.e. anything released that's over 1 month old.

Even with almost 6k votes - this SIMPLE request will never be implemented.

Wife just bought the Versa but complains about this as well.  Until they provide this "night mode" that disables quick view during a configurable time frame (or some other reasonable measure) I will not buy the Versa. Still keeping  my Pebble for the time being I guess.

When I sleep I tend to move around a lot, this means that my watch turns on and blinds me, and my wife and our cat.  Please please please add this feature, I love my Fitbit but this is beyond annoying at night.  Think of the kitties!

I like that my screen is activated by my wrist movement, but this is bloody annoying at night. I'm a really light sleeper and I'm finding that the screen coming on is waking me. Not to mention the screen shining in my wife's eyes in the middle of the night pisses her off.

It would be great if you place some logic to this function:

If time >= 2200 do not activate screen

You can even have a setting that alters the time value. From a programming perspective this is so easy to implement.

@Bradley76 Glad you like the cover. Sorry I didn't read your post earlier. Just happy a few minutes of my time help others to sleep better.

Shame Fitbit don't update firmware, or include my cover with every Charg 2 🙂

Great watch, only when i'm turning in my sleep the screen is turning on, it would be nice in any update for a optie that with a combination of 2 buttons the screen turning black untill the next morning and with the same combination turning on.
