Supporting generic food data better would be a huge improvement. I'm in NZ, and if this thread has got only 30 votes (small button top left of thread if you missed it) for a UK food DB then people from other countries shouldn't be expecting any action from Fitbit soon.
I will be recommending other options to friends until Fitbit engage this - a pity since this missing feature is what makes an otherwise rewarding product quite frustrating to use.
I agree. I live in Germany and the fatsecret database is much more useful to me with the barcode integration. It is really suprising to find neither company has wants to link their products.
There is no food database for the UK. It might be that there aren't enough Fitbit busers yet in the UK to warrant it but it's so annoying when i want to barcode scan an item, for example and there's no database, I have to find some approximation from the US database.
I bought my Fitbit yesterday in the Netherlands but I can't chose Netherlands neither in the country list nor in the food database. I picked Germany but then everything is written in German and food database is in German (my German is not that good).
If I pick UK or France, same story. So, if you sell your products in a country, make sure that it can be used properly in that country.
Maybe you can combine Netherlands and Belgium, as a compromise....
I second the requirement to increase the nationality selection.
I do not live in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy or Spain. I live in Ireland. At the very least, change it to 'United Kingdom and Ireland' - since the USA and Canada are treated link that.
Really surpised it doens't have one already and from the comments it seems it's been a long time coming? How come no UK database? Although, it also seems from the comments that there are no officials reading this thread. Not very impressed by that as a new customer as of today.
Please can we have a UK food database. I bought my fitbit 4 days ago and am shocked that there is no UK database. This item has been available in the UK for ages so why no database for us?
I guess no reply means Fitbit have no interest in UK customers.
There are UK food databases out there. 'Fat Secret' Android App has a great one which includes UK supermarket brands, restaurants and chains, popular brands and even a bar code scanner. So why not integrate it?
Having to switch between MyFitness Pal and Fitbit apps to record food eaten and then see the impact in my calories allowance in Fitbit is extremely annoying - please listen to your UK customers without making them go through the hoops of having to go to a special place in the Internet to vote.
Yes agree. Same here from Australia. It makes the calorie counters useless at the moment and all one can do is guess and hope it is a like product. Maybe this already exists and I haven't found it yet...still exploring but this would make it heaps better and more accurate. Thanks
This definitely should be one of the next things to go live - MyFitnessPal is good but syncing between the two is not always perfect and food eaten shows up in FitBit just as calories, not actual meals. Thanks 🙂
I feel cheated that we are stuck with US only food database. Until we get a UK database, I cannot recommend this to anyone and I will not buy another Fitbit device.
