As a new customer, I can't believe that the lack of a food database hasn't been mentioned in any of the many reviews I read. The lack of a response from the team is very disappointing.
i like the fitbit and the fact that its all in one now when it comes to food i see theres no uk side to it so i have to enter most things if i want to use it. now you cant tell me that the amount of ppl in the uk would not use it if it was added even if you just add a uk side to it and let us start to add to it. its one of the only things that are getting me upset about the product now
Agree fully, how many UK users are there and how long can Fitbit ignore us. It cant be rocket science to tap into an existing UK food database! Come on Fitbit.
The lack of a UK food database is shocking! None of the US food matches up - how hard can it be to employ someone to sort out the database - hell give me some money and I'll do it for you myself!
So, I messaged the moderators today about a UK food database, here's the response (no timeframe but it is in motion...) Subject: Re: UK Food database From: Matthew Date: 01-28-2015 11:34 Hi Rob, A UK Food Database is indeed in the works. You're welcome to join the related conversation here, and keep an eye out for updates to that Feature Suggestion. I don't have an estimated arrival for this new feature, but we're hoping to announce it soon! Matthew Fitbit Community Moderator
I've just bought a Fitbit and am really disappointed to see there is no UK Food Database. The USA one is absolutely useless to us. It means we can't use a very expensive item fully. I notice there are pages of requests on this forum and still we wait. When are you intending to sort this for us?
Can we either get a UK Database or a way to import from myFitnessPal or the Tesco page. Happy with either, but its annoying having information in two places.
It would be really useful to have the UK Food Database. It's a bit strange that they have other countries databases, but not the UK's. Must be a reason, but I can't think what it might be!!

I'm new to fitbit, about a fortnight, and I love it. My Charge is revolutionizing me, honestly. 4.5lbs gone already, and the optimism for much more.
I'm about to buy the Arla scales, when the black ones come back into stock.
I'm about to buy Premium, because I love all the reports and graphs, they really keep me interested and focussed.
- but I do want the British food database. Myfitnesspal is fine, and syncs beautifully but particularly in the detailed food reports, it's no use, because all it reports is the total meal eaten at Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner/Snacks but no detail of the actual foods, rendering this Premuim report pointless, when it could be so useful.
Despite being a serial dieter for 40 years, fitbit is already teaching me so much. Please times a million, bring in the British food database as soon as possible - I've a lot more to learn!
I, too, would like your food database to be extended. The product is sold all over Europe, but the choices of the food database is limited. I live in Belgium, but speak English and the choice for my food database is either France or US. Neither of these countries fit my personal need here. There ought to be an "international" database, where one can input a variety of food.
If that is not possible, we should at least have a UK database for food and a German database and, preferably, for me... a Belgian one! 🙂
Calorie Values: OK! A banana is a banana, but when trying to match a US manufactured food product to one of ours it's really tiresome. Make using your products a pleasure rather than a chore and give us a UK data base to work from.
I came across this on another thread. Very disappointing to know that we're not that important to fitbit. Love the equipment but I think the attitude is pretty shabby, considerating.....

"" As soon as we have more information about a UK food database, we will let you know.At this moment, we just ask for your patience and understanding. Our developers are still considerating this but it's not a priority. Stay tuned!
Do you think if enough people comment saying how much we need a UK food database they will listen? Can only try. Only real downfall as it really is a guessing game and not very accurate.
@Rob67 wrote: It would be really helpful for me and others I'm sure to have a UK foods database . Using the U.S. version is a guessing game at best. It would also be nice to see nutrition information as well. These features are already part of the MyFitnessPal app which I have to keep using to log my food intake.
