I am glad to announce that this is now present in the Android app as of app version 2.38. Feel free to update the app so you can check this new Dashboard on your phone.
The new dashboard is definitely NOT good for older people. The symbols are very hard to read without reading glasses. I'm sure in time I would learn to remember what symbols I have listed in what order but right now I can't read them.
There is also less information provided with the new dashboard. I can no longer see my goals like the old dashboard.
I hope you find a way to offer both options. It's nice that people like that it looks like it does on their computers but not everyone is using the dashboard on a computer so that should not be a factor, Ease of reading while working out should be.
I really like the new Android dashboard. There is one feature of it however that I think should be changed. I've arranged the screen so that the things I care about are immediately visible in the screen when I start it up and I'm sure it was designed for that. But the big blue plus sign in the lower right hand corner masks one of the widgets I want to see and I have to scroll to get the widget in view. I think the plus sign should either be at the end of all the widgets or else moveable or turn-off-able. Having it always where it is assumes we are constantly wanting to change our screens and that just isn't so.
@eded747 You can get the old dashboard back by going to Account (lower right corner) then scroll down to where it says "Advance settings" there you can tap "Switch back to old Dashboard".
@AmyChristineH@Al_M Thank you both for your feedback regarding the new Dashboard, feel free to add each individual suggestion to this board so they can be taken into consideration by the developers.
I see that a lot of people have commented that they wanted this new dashboard, so I guess those of us who hate it are now stuck with it! Come on Fitbit, what's so hard about leaving us the option to use whichever format suits our purpose? I like being able to arrange ALL of my icons in the order I want to see them, not Fitbit's arbitrary arrangement. And the one-swipe feature of the old dashboard to look at previous day's data is now gone. Boo hiss!
You ladies, Fitbit goes with the majority. Sorry that you ladies don't see that the new and improved Android dashboard is more organized and simple for most newbies. Change is good sometimes. Fitbit has also released new trackers with that (like mobile phones) comes updates. ❤ Take care and keep those steps up!
AlishaW. That's great for newbies.. but not all of us are newbies. For months they let us have both. So if you liked the "new" design you were free to use it, but if not you could keep using the VERY detailed, easy to read, easy to show your medical professional at a swipe what was going on with your fitness so they would be able to see what was happening. Now that is no longer an option. It's no longer easy to swipe and see an entire day at a glance. Now you have to click into each individual thing which makes it MUCH harder to compare your exercise with your heart rate for a given period. It makes it much harder to see if you ate enough based on your activity or if you over ate based on your activity. Before it was all streamlined and all data for a day was visible. Now that's gone.
All we ask is that they continue to offer both options - they did it for months... I don't see why they had to change that.
The New Dashboard is not to everyones liking but could be made a lot better if this is the version that is going to stay a few suggestions that would make it more appeasing
suggest improvements to the new dashboard are as follows
Unlock the top Tile
Allow User to chose what is in the larger tile (ie be able to change distance with heart rate etc.) or break to single tiles (revisited in point 6)
allow the user to allocate which tiles go where (like in the Older Version/Desktop Version)
allow the whole page to show historic data when paging Left - like the Old Version (not just the present locked top tile) split data is not useful
colours change on progress Bar/Circle (like the Old Version).
if you want it like the Main Desktop allow all the tiles available on PC Inc multi action Charts/Graphs (Heart Rate for example) (not really viable due to size of mobile platform) but this is what parity means. (an example is you wouldn't watch a 3d movie on a mobile phone - because it just doesn't work the same applies with these tiles - single tiles could work but the large tile that you cannot customise needs to be revisited to allow people who are less able to put what is important to them as well) EG the ability to exchange Steps for HR or Floors for cals in/out
The Add button (+) needs to be in page not in overlay as it covers information
Calories Burned and Calories Left Should be in the same tile ( Like Cals In/Out).
three more recent additions to be taken forward if you wouldn't mind
the background colour is too bright, an option to change background colour might be advantageous as well like an mid grey and a black with the fonts and pictures also changing to a corresponding colour (dark blue background with a yellow font as an example)
if we must have the Large main tile #2 let US customise it with what is important to each individual user (like in the old dashboard) or maybe break the tile down to separate tiles again
maybe instead of circles have Arcs instead of circles or revert back to bars with more information provided in the tile (we have had both of these options at one stage or anther so should be easy to implement
Please Note this is for the Android Changes but guess it would aid the IOS as well
I accept that not all the changes will be agreeable to everyone and have already had feedback on #8
