Use Wi-Fi instead of Bluetooth to push phone notifications to a Fitbit device

Bluetooth connection is lost when phone and watch are physically located in different rooms in our home, because of the concrete walls. So in order to get notifications on the watch I have to keep carrying the phone with me around the house.

Is Wi-fi notifications even possible? iOS only allow bluetooth devices to read notifications.

iOS is a pretty restrictive operating system to begin with. Some features like sending quick replies to notifications is only available on Android devices, so... Taking advantage of the home Wi-Fi coverage to receive notifications wherever you are in the house, and not just when you're next to the phone is something I regard as an important addition to consider implementing into Fitbit watches. With that, apps like "Find my Phone" would make a lot more sense, too.

Having WiFi on throughout the day will greatly reduce the time between charging.

If this got implemented I would want to see it as optional.

People already are complaining that the built in GPS, that they have been wanting since the release of the Versa 1, uses to much battery. Of course using the phones gps uses up the phone battery. My Versa lasts longer than the phone when it comes to gps.

Good idea to have it as an option, Rich_Laue! I'd be enabling Wi-Fi notifications while at home only (optimize battery usage).

I think this is a great idea

Currently WiFi is only turned on while the tracker is on its charger.
