I'm looking for a completely waterproof tracker with all of the features (sleep, heart rate, steps, stairs, miles, calories, reminder to move, phone alerts, clock with date, etc) all in one. When?? Please make this your next release!!!!!
It would be great if the Charge HR was made waterproof, not water resistant but waterproof. I would think that it would not be that difficult for example you could do something like Otterbox where a piece would snap into the charger section to prevent water damage but still be able to remove the piece to charge it. Or something like Samsung does with a piece that snaps into the charger area so it does not get damaged. I think it would be a great selling option especially for people who like mud runs, trialethions and such. Thank you for considering this and I do LOVE my HR Charge.
Hi! With the introduction of the flex2 and charge2 I was wondering If it would be possible to make a surge that's water resistant and could be used for swimming. That could be the ideal watch!
The Charge HR needs to be waterproof. It is that simple. I assume that this was possible from the start, but FitBit R&D needs to save some upgrades for the 2.0. But a tracker that is not waterproof just does not make any sense.
Sweat immensely while exercising. Would love to have my Fitbit flex waterproof. Noticed that the Fitbit flex 2 will be waterproof. My 1st generation works really well. Was wondering if a waterproof replacement band could be developed. As opposed to my plastic wrap inside a sweat band.
I also agree we should be able to track fitness while swimming. It just makes sense! I have the charge hr, but would buy another if it would track swimming into steps. I think it is interesting that the standard response is that you don't take steps while swimming, as I don't take steps while mowing the lawn or driving on a bumpy road, but it records steps for those! So why shouldn't I get steps for doing an actual activity like swimming?
I was excited at the larger display and ability to have true clock faces with the new Charge HR 2 however was very disappointed that it's still only splash "resistant". All Garmin models are water resistant to 5 ATM (50m) and even the new Apple Watch 2 is rated to 3 ATM (30m) and is swim-proof and can still count floors.
Perhaps the tiny hole used for air pressure differences could be removed and floors climbed be tracked via GPS instead? This is likely how Apple and Garmin are doing it. Water resistance is a very important feature that is lacking for all Fitbit devices except the Alta and that doesn't even have a proper display and does not measure heart rate.
Is there a chance there will be a model that will be able to track swimming. I know currently the Fitbits are water resistant. But can they be made waterproof and have some sort of swimming tracker for laps. I'm an avid swimmer and would love to have one that could.
The new Fitbit Flex 2 is waterproof! One down! That's great news! Pre-Order now! 🙂 Now when the rest of them are waterproof, Fitbit will have anwered our prayers! Come on Fitbit! Let the Fitbit Charge HR be next PRETTY PLEASE!!!
I think Fitbit needs to make one device that is both waterproof and has the capbaility of heart monitor - preferably with a sleek small design like the Flex or Alta. Right now it feels like Fitbit is forcing me to buy two products because I want a device that I can use when I am paddleboarding or in an aqua aerobics class and one that can update me on what my heart rate is. I would love it to be a smaller band because the Charge is bigger than I like, although I would start with just having a product to do both. That way it could help me meet my fitness goals.
I will soon need to update my Charge HR for a tracker with a smaller strap. I love Fitbit and use Aria as well, but I now really want a waterproof tracker as I've been told to walk/srerch for 40 minutes a day in the pool. I also want GPS to track normal walking accurately and am hoping that Fitbit will provide a tracker with both features, as otherwise I'll have to get a Garmin, which would be a real shame, given how much I love Fitbit
The original Flex is NOT waterproof. I can attest to this because I accidentally left it on when I went to water aerobics and killed it. I replaced it with an Alta which is also not waterproof. I would love for FitBit to create a waterproof version of the Alta. I would buy one today if it existed.
I agree with @Zoethe and going to the Apple Watch. Definitely annoyed. I just bought an Alta back in March then find out they released even newer models 6 months later and none are waterproof up to a certain depth. Heck you can't even do laps in the pool!
But I understand that making the sensor exposure to air it the difficult part (while maintaining waterproof capability). Silicon is very expandable and impermeable... it would be a simple method for isolating the sensor from the water.
There is also epoxy but possibly harder to implement. Anyway, it is possible and other brands are doing it. 1ATM is great, but does not cover multiple situations... we need waterproof IP68 up to 10 meters and if to beat the competition, up to 30 meters. More than that is just too specific in my opinion.
This could also be an opportunity to implement new sensors for underwater sports. Temperature sensor and diving meters sensor (can be reutilized from the pressure sensors). Lots of opportunity for clever techniques of guessing movements here... to calculate calories and other...
Really thinking great here.... keep up. Revolutionize the social sports!
Hey guys, I was wondering if fitbit was going to come out with a more advanced watch like the charge hr or blaze as a swim proof watch. I just lost mine and I would like to replace it, but I'm having a hard time since I really want a blaze or charge hr, but I need it to be water proof for swimming since that is apart of my routine. Just wondering if that is in the future or not.
I recently took swimming lessons and want to continue practicing swimming, but think it's a bummer that I have to take my Fitbit off and lose a lot of good information. I want to be able to see how many calories I've burned, length of time I'm able to stay in the water, heart rate, all of the features that I love with the Charge HR that I can see when I'm doing exercises outside of the water, so that I can see how I'm improving over time. All of the new features added to the Charge HR2 is what I was looking for except the waterproof and for that reason I'm not switching over to it. I keep seeing the commercials for the new Apple Watch and it gets me excited because I know that it can be done, so I'm trying my best to hold out in hopes that Fitbit will make another upgrade to the Charge HR and make it waterproof.
