"stride length" for elliptical machines

If a "feature" we're to be included for the user to enter the correct stride length for their elliptical machine, all other calculations would be correct. I should state my position however that basic accuracy is not a "feature". It is not a "feature" that your software calculates distance, speed, and calories with an error greater than 100%. This is called "error", "inaccurate", or more realistically "just plain wrong". I'm not entirely certain what the goal of this setting was in both concept and implementation. Obviously, you cannot possibly calculate any meaningful values from ticks on the gyro if you don't know the distance travelled between ticks. Anyway, it would be nice to have a "feature" whereby my $169 tracker actually provided me with accurate data.

I would concur that the ability to enter stride length for elliptical machines is necessary. Most higher end elliptical machines have in their specifications the stride length of the machine. This is often quite different than a users walking or running stride length, which is measured and entered into your profile settings. The ability to enter the stride length of the elliptical you are using or own would then provide greater consistency of data between the measurements of your Fitbit and the data on the elliptical.

Ability to enter the stated stride length in an elliptical's specifications, seems to me, would be the most logical and easiest to implement solution to the vast discrepancies that are observed on my Charge 2 and other Fitbit models and the more accurate data provided by the Elliptical.  Of course there are other challenges Fitbit has to have comparable data when tracking elliptical activities including ramp level, resistance, etc. But at least this would be a "step" in the right direction! LOL!
