Better Battery Icon

So I want to make my battery indicator an icon rather than a numerical percentage. I've seen that this can be done using images that are triggered by certain percentages of battery, but I was wondering if it is possible to make a rectangle that would be resized based on the battery level. If I could do this, then I could have more accurate representation. A little weird, I know. I just thought if it worked, why not? I'm a bit of a noob so I may also need to know how to make the icon refresh every time the charge level changes (to make it change each time the percentage does). One last note, seeing the code would also be helpful, because, once again, I'm not too great at coding.

Also if you can find a way to rescale an image this way that will probably work too. Image will probably work better if I want the battery icon to have rounded corners or weird angles.
