Changing accelerometer sample rate

Hi, 

 

I'm new to Fitbit studio. I'm currently interested in a project using Fitbit and gait analysis. Essentially, I want to create a program that can be used on Fitbit to record a users daily walking patterns (stride length, total steps, side to side motion) and transmit to a server for analysis.

 

I want to know if it is possible to increase the sample rate of a Fitbit accelerometer, as it would give finer data points for analysis. I have looked around the documentation and didn't find anything. Any advice would be helpful.

You can adjust the frequency, but only lower than the default 100hz.

Do you know why they cap it at 100Hz? or if there is any way to bypass this?
