Do users need to update their app?

I have never worked with fitbit before but i am updating an existing app for a client, if i upload my fba file, does it automatically update on the end users device or will they be prompted to updated the app? We are changing some API end points so it is imperative that the application is updated.

Users actually need to go to the app section of the Fitibt app and check if any update is available and start manual update. There is not even an update notification.

This type of feature would be very useful. Now with redesign you need 4 clicks to just reach the screen to update the app, so most user would never know there is an update. But based on how fitbit cares for developer (hint: not at all), this is unlikely to come any time soon.
