How to stop fitbit watch face from terminating when opening applications?

Whenever I open a new app on my Fitbit Versa 3 (exercise, today, timers, etc.), the watch terminates my face and resets the watch face's settings. This is particularly annoying for my clock face because the user can select what colour theme they want to use using settings, but if they open another app, then their choice gets reset. Is there a way to stop the watches from terminating the face or another way to store the settings?

Store the current state of your clockface in the watch file system, and reload it when your clockface starts.
