Invoking AWS IOT Device SDK from FitBit Sense watch/compansion (module not found error)

Hello,

I amwanting to invoke some AWS Internet of Things APIs from my FitBit application that runs on the original Sense watch. There is a JavaScript version of the AWS IOT SDK. Using the npx fitbit commands to build then install. The build runs fine, but during install, I get the error: 

App: Unhandled exception: Error: Cannot find module 'aws-iot-device-sdk'

Does anyone know how to resolve this? The module is installed and is in the node_modules folder. I tried moving the code to the companion JS file but still get same error.
