Looking for Beta testers for Send Message app.

A couple of years back, I wrote an app called Send Message that made HTTP requests.  It was fairly simple but had some cute features and over 10,000 people loaded it so presumably it found a use.  It's still available for the Pebble at https://apps.rebble.io/en_US/application/56014a2508e93f4b6d000063.

I now have a cut down version available for Versa and Ionic at https://gam.fitbit.com/gallery/app/08e2723d-c0f3-429c-9cb8-e93086fd604c.

If you're interest in testing it, I'd love feedback and I may add some of the fancier features (like location awareness).

Also, once I make it available for searching, can I then submit later versions for approval?

Thanks,

Peter

Tried the Link for Versa and Ionic "Page Failed To Open..... etc Because Mac OS does not recognize Internet address starting with Fitbit." I know the link shows https. If I change it to http it bring me to Shutterfly. If I change it to https message states can't find server gallery. Why the link is changing after selecting not sure why, almost like it is being forwarded to another link. Would like to give it a test run.........

GAM links have to be opened on a mobile phone and then it opens the Fitbit app to install.

Hi @petersumm

Installed on my Versa running OS3 and the app works fine.  I set up some quick IFTTT links and now I can control my Sonos from my wrist!  Pretty neat.

I'd like to be able to change the colours on the buttons and also get a little feedback on the button so I know it's been clicked, but they're just small things.

Cheers.

Thanks for educating me..... Learn something new every day........... Still new to this whole FitBit thing - still learning how to program for it and the in's and out's of it all.

Some sort of feedback to show how the message is processing is on my todo list.  The Pebble version did this.

Other functionality that the Pebble version provided was generating location information, and I'll probably do this as well if there's enough interest.

Speaking of which, does FItbit provide feedback to developers on how many people have loaded their app?  Pebble did this really well, and it was a great incentive to develop free apps.

Sent you a PM.......

Sorry, PM says I've sent to many messages, which is odd because I've not sent any.

The group I used were SMSGlobal, but you do need to sign up for an account. The syntax is something like: https://www.smsglobal.com/http-api.php?action=sendsms&user=<user>&password=<password>&from=Peter&to=....

If you're wanting something for testing, look at http://www.requestcatcher.com. That's what I'm using at the moment. It's free and it tells you what request you've sent.

Cheers,

Peter

OK, I've just uploaded an update that vibrates when you send a message and tells you which message was sent.  To dismiss the white text, you just touch it.

The next version will tell you what response was received from the server as well.

I've updated this again, adding some instructions on the setting screen.

Please let me know if you find any problems with it, otherwise I'll submit it to Fitbit.
