I've just received my Sense, after being assured my a friend with a Versa 2 that it has onboard music storage. It never even crossed my mind that you would take that away, and lock the watch down to one specific (paid) service: Deezer.
Now, I'd be happy to write an app to enable users to download their own music onto the watch and play it. Unfortunately, a quick skim of the documentation suggests that this is not possible, as apps only have access to 15MB of storage at most. Is this correct? Does this watch really have several GB of storage reserved for use with only one in-house app?
Frankly, this situation seems ridiculous, so I'm really hoping I misread that and there's some way to enable users to play their own music on this device, as was possible before.
If not, well, I guess the Sense is going back. 😕

Hello @QuantumCaffeine ,
my personal suggestion would be to sell your Sense if this is really needed. In fact the request to open the onboard storage is quite a common request but so far Fitbit has quite categorically said they are not going to open it (see https://community.fitbit.com/t5/SDK-Development/Adding-a-podcast-application-for-Fitbit-Ionic/m-p/23... ).

Sense can store onboard only playlists from Deezer or Pandora.

Exactly. And here in the UK, even Pandora isn't an option. Given that things were more flexible before (in the Versa 2 days), it just boggles my mind that they would lock things down this hard. It's such a waste to provide onboard music storage, then implement it so as to prevent most users getting much benefit from it. That's why I decided to ask whether we users can do anything about it.
Right now, I'm *really* wishing I'd decided to go with a Garmin instead. Unless someone can think of a way for us to make the feature more useful, I'll be returning my Sense tomorrow. 😕

If you just got it, can't you just return it? Unless you bought it from an unauthorized seller.

Thanks for that; I thought as much, but had to ask! And yes, this discussion has confirmed that I should return my Sense and look elsewhere. It's a shame: it's a lovely device in other ways, but this is a deal-breaker for me.
Thanks again!

I got it as a replacement for my old Charge 3 (whose screen failed), meaning I got it direct from FitBit at a 50% discount. The main reason for asking here is that it's a great device in a lot of ways, and I was hoping the onboard music limitation could be worked around. After all, the Versa 2 was more flexible, so this can only be an artificial software restriction. However, the loss in functionality seems to be very deliberate (and customer-hostile, IMO) so there's no way I can continue with it.
The only thing I don't know is what FitBit will do now, and it may be that I'll wind up better off selling my Sense rather than returning it, given that I do not plan to get another FitBit device. I guess I'll see what they say tomorrow!
Anyway, thanks for your help!
