Sending custom push notifications to Fitbit App

As part of a recent event programming activity, we gifted Fitbit Flex 2's to clients who attended our program. Following the event, we are exploring ways to engage our clients through the Fitbit app. Is it possible to send our clients custom push notifications to their Fitbit app? If this is possible, how would we go about doing this? If this is not possible, why so?

Fitbit devices can recieve any push notification from the mobile phone, they just need to be configured to receive them.
