Sense 2 Debugging

Has anyone successfully been able to debug an app using Fitbit Studio and a Sense 2? If so, can you share your setup and any caveats.

I upgraded from a Versa 2, which worked fine with Studio, but I can't get the Sense 2 to be seen by Studio. The Bridge on phone and device both show to be ON and Studio sees the phone but cannot see the device.

Thanks

@Menzies2017 go to the app gallery and count how many apps are there for Sense 2. It won't take long. Here's your answer. Sense 2 and Versa 4 don't support thirdparty apps development.

That's interesting since there's a USB Debugging option on this device and the simulator supports Sense. Can someone from Fitbit comment on this?

I moved your post to the SDK development forum.  I think it's your best chance to get an answer.

Hi @Menzies2017 - Developer bridge for Fitbit Studio is not available for a Sense 2 or Versa 4. There are no SDKs available so building clocks is not currently possible and apps are not supported on those devices.

Thank you. Are you saying that app development will "never" be supported or that it's just not an option right now?

@Menzies2017- currently third party apps are not available or planned, but who knows what the future brings, as there have been no announcements. It is not even known why this direction has been chosen.

The Fitbit commented on it in the past the usual way: post feature suggestion.

That sounds like it's time to consider another smart watch. If Fitbit is truly going that route then the product is a dead end. That's too bad.

Fitbit has stated that the SDK for Versa 4 and Sense 2 will be released soon. A date hasn't been announced.

@Gondwana- but apps will not be supported on those devices. The publicity stating 100 of apps are available has been removed.

If an SDK is going to be made available, what features it will support is not known. Given the fact it is not available now would indicate a rather different construction and may not have all the features available on other watches..

@Gondwana That would be great news if fitbit is committed to release an SDK for Versa 4 and Sense 2. Even it's not backward compatible, it really should release something. Do you still have the statement from fitbit in this regards?

The Developer bridge option is still available on the latest firmware. That got to say something, too.

Unfortunately, the AI running this forum blocks many links. Look in the Fitbit discord, 'coding' channel, orviwan's posts about Oct 17.
