Stuck at "Email verification required" in Gallery App Manager

When I log in to https://gam.fitbit.com/setup, there is nothing but a message that says:

Email verification required

Reload this page once you've verified your email address.
 
When I click the "RESEND" button a message appears at the bottom of the screen:
 
Email already verified
 
So now I'm stuck, in some kind of weird state of being both verified and not verified, and unable to continue. How do I get unstuck so I can start developing for my watch?

The sign-up arrangements have recently been rejigged, so there could be a technical teething problem.

If the watch or email address had previously been associated with a different dev account, that could complicate things.

You could try emailing Fitbit via the email address in the FAQ page, accessed from link at top of GAM.
