Sudden maintenance screen

Last night my work was interrupted because of Maintenance screen. And today I've noticed that the big chunk of code is missing.
This is very unprofessional!

The users should be at least able to save their work.

So my watch can email me when the battery level is low, but for the development studio downtime, I need to follow updates on twitter?
