Track Flex 2 sensors without internet

I would like to purchase a Flex 2 since it is providing all the characteristics I need to build my own tracker app. Unfortunately, I understood that it is not possible to access the sensors directly through the standard API with no internet access, but through the Web API instead. Can you confirm me that? In this case, is it a chance that in a near future this could change?

You're correct, the data is only accessible via the Web APIs, and I'm not aware of any plans to change this.
