Tumbler View: Touch Area

Tumbler view: mine doesn't respond to touch above the selected item (which is at mid-screen-height).It seems like the component is not sensitive to touch above its y value, which I specified as per the documentation.

 

The built-in app tumblers (eg, in Alarm) don't seem to have this problem. What am I doing wrong?
