When can we expect a simple download counter?

I am tired of integrating Google Analytics and asking for the internet permission just to count my users. When will we be able to see a simple download counter on Gallery App Manager? As a software developer, I know this can't be too hard to implement and it is something developers have been requesting for literally YEARS!
