I am relatively new in smart watch usage as developer. I want to use accelerometer data of Fitbit watch for medical purposes. I have found that the easiest way to work on this, is through Accelerometer API.
The problem is that i cannot understand if i have to use Fitbit app in mobile (and Fitbit server) or i can get the accelerometer data straight from the Bluetooth of the watch to my app without the use of external apps.
thank you in advance

You can only access the data by creating an Fitbit OS app for the device.

thanks for the answer,
1) is there android compatibility?
2) if i create a Firbit app will this app be independent or it has to work along with Firbits official app and server?

I would like to do the same in my medical research. I know, that there is the possibility of recording the data from accelerometer. Better guestion seems to me where they can be stored, and how much of them (on Versa). I read in another m guestion, that each app have limited 12MB of available space. Is it true? Then I expect the data could be transfered to mobile phone using the api and some app on android phone. Or is it not possible? Thank you

Even if it does happen, you will not be able to have real-time data.
